You can still get the Abu Vendetta at some Walmarts for $30. The Berkley Lightning Shock are pretty good rods also.

Sellus, Lightning Rod, Vengeance. Sellus my #1 pick.

The new white BPS bionic blade is a pretty nice rod. I used a buddy's a couple times this fall and liked it well enough. I wasn't a fan of the way the reel seat felt in my hand so I didn't buy one myself, but for an economy rod it would be a good option.

I have a couple Abu Vengeance's and a couple Lightning Rod Shocks........Flip a coin, they are both good rods for the $$. The Shimano Sellus's don't impress me at all, and I like Shimano stuff just fine, but I have seen a high % of them new on racks in the stores with QC issues....like crooked guides and reel seats, blobs of epoxy in the blank, etc...

Over the next few months tackleshops everywhere will be clearancing older product to accomodate the new stuff. Shop around and be patient, you may get a much nicer rod for your money.

I'd sooner get rid of my more expensive rods than my Calico Jack, I may buy another one (MH)just for snakeheads.

The powell diesel is on sale right now for $54.88 at tackle warehouse. I ordered one from a local tackle shop and the guy is matching the TW price. Heard a lot of good things about the rods.
