Tim Kelly Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 I might have a go at dipping a few here. I imagine that it might work if I dipped a base layer, then laid the tube in a second colour, then probably have to do a third dip in clear, but it's all getting a bit complicated. If I could find a source for Exude fat tubes in the two tone colours I'm nearly out of I'd be delighted, but they appear to have discontinued them. Quote
basscatcher8 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 only problem there is your plastic would be thicker on one side. but that might give it a cool swimming action with one side heavier. Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 17, 2014 Super User Posted January 17, 2014 Take a look at bearsbaits.com, excellent home injection molding softbplastic fishing lures. Canyon-plastics is under new management, you might want to give them another try. Tom Quote
Hervé Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Do you know those kind of tubes ? http://www.trophy-pike-solutions.com/produit/e-sox-toy/ Quote
Tim Kelly Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 I don't know that particular brand, but I've had tremendous success with the 6" Lindy Tiger Tubes for pike. The 8" ones haven't been as successful for me. Thanks for the bearbaits link. They have some interesting stuff alright. Looking at the Canyon Plastics site again I notice that their two tone tubes are spray painted on top to give the darker layer. That might be an easier way to go if I can find a supplier of the right paint this side of the pond. Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 18, 2014 Super User Posted January 18, 2014 FYI, Canyon plastics makes the Lindy Tiger tubes. Barlows Tackle in Texas sells a wide variety of tubes and may have Tiger tubes and paints for soft plastics and they ship world wide. You need to contact them, not everything is in their catalog. Super User .ghoti. Posted January 18, 2014 Super User Posted January 18, 2014 An off-the-wall thought, if you will. Check out some JJ's Magic. It's the only dip for soft plastics that will actually change the color of the bait. If you can get some of that stuff shipped across the pond, try "painting" some light color tubes, using q-tips. camovan Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Mizmo makes some killer looking 2 tone and 3 tone tubes. http://www.mizmo.com/badboyscatalog.html and http://www.mizmo.com/trilamcatalog.html that tri lam super shad looks like a winner based on what your looking for. Not sure on the shipping but seems like you have some friends here who are willing to help. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Those Mizmo ones look good. I've found an ebay supplier for them too, so have ordered a few packs - thanks. I hope they're not too bulky, as I was really after a slim 3.5" tube, but we'll have to see. Many thanks. The JJ's may be an option if I can find some, thanks for the idea. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted January 20, 2014 Super User Posted January 20, 2014 If you manage to get some JJ's, and you have a wife, do not even open the bottle in the house. I made some very effective flukes, using JJ's to "paint" the top edge of the bait darker, and paint some stripes down the sides. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 LOL. Consider me warned! I can get the spike it pens here, so I might try that first, as it's easier to get hold of them. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Whiskey river baits came through, I have a nice sized stash of tubes on their way now. Thanks for the input guys. Quote
