Zach P Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Technically this may not be a "tackle" question, but what brand of fishing gloves does everyone use for late fall/winter/early spring fishing when the weather is cold? I've seen both the half finger and fingerless gloves as well as gloves with just fingertips open. I would prefer half finger or gloves with just open fingertips. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 Not sure of any particular brand per say, but for the last 30 years or more, I've been using fingerless rag wool gloves, with hand warmers in each jacket pocket. The wool keeps your hands warm, even when wet. The fingerless feature allows easy knot tying. And the hand warmers keep your fingers toasty as well. The new chemcal pack hand warmers today are incredible! We use to use those old cigarette lighter type hand warmers (I think they still make those?) which were stinky, but worked. I'm sure there are more expensive, high quality gloves for fishermen these days. But what I have has proven itself time and time again. And the cost is not prohibitive. 1 Quote
Elegantly Wasted Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I bought some of these to try this year. http://www.mechanix.com/the-original-05mm It's basically a golf glove with quite thin leather. I still haven't tried to cast with them and obviously having leather on all the fingers will diminish some of the sensitivity but when it's really cold I would prefer to keep my finger tips warm. Exposed cold finger tips have pretty poor sensation as well Quote
