I was looking at some high end rods. But because I'm a stay at home dad and we are getting ready to make the move to North Carolina my wife has knocked me down a few pegs. So I'm looking at the Duckett Ghost rod but I need a spinning reel but a cheap one what's the best out there for under $60. Also going to be looking for a fishing partner in Mooresville NC area. Thanks

If your cap is $60, a 6930 Pfluegar President is hard to beat.

X2...............even a little less is a Pflueger trion.

X3 great reels and you can find them in rod combos if you wish for $80.

Broken record time............President. A couple other good ones that fly under the radar are the Shimano Sonora's (the orange reel) and the Abu Cardinal STX

Thanks guys appreciate it. It went from cashion, dobyns, and kistler. Then to abu, falcon, and wright McGill cause the boys come first with money. So now I have to get a $99.00 rod. Thanks for your help.

Drop right down to $79 and grab an Abu Vendetta. Lot of rod for the $ IMHO.

We had twin boys and couldn't afford daycare in jersey so since she makes more than me I got to stay home.lol

I feel your pain brother. Hang in there, you will manage.  I have 20 month old identical twin boys.  I work, she stays home to raise them. Better than daycare knowing your kids are being raised by the right person.

To echo what mark said, it doesn't get any better than a parent staying home to raise the kids. I have 4 little ones and my wife's a stay at home and home schools the oldest. It is hard on the wallet but better than someone else raising your kids. And hats off to the ones that stay home, it can get pretty crazy. I dont know how yall keep from going put of your mind sometimes. lol My rod purchase after i got my new reel for christmas went from$100 to $60-70 to wait until my b-day lol luckily I was given an old Berkely lightning that has surprisingly been a really decent and durable rod this far. It is all good though. If you do get a ghost rod, those look sweet. But to give you another idea the shimano Clarus is 79-89 and comes with a lifetime warranty. Happy shopping.

to be different the new Mitchell 300 Pro is a great reel at that price and the Daiwa Legalis is actually the reel I use on all my spinning setups can't beat it.

I changed my mind I'm going with Abu Garcia Veritas with the Pflueger President 6930. What size fluorocarbon can you use on this reel? I know it says 6# or 8# could I stretch it and possibly put 10# and how much if I do?

I just got a Pflueger President 6930 for Christmas because of everyone who recommended it on here! I haven't got to use it yet but I'm going to run braid to a fluoro leader to give it a try.  Now I'm am looking for a rod to pair it with, specifically the Shimano Clarus 2-piece, (Because I ride my bike most of the time to go fishing and it fits nicely in a book bag)

Any of the guys who have the president do you think it would pair nicely with that rod? 7' M/F.
