GaterB Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Hey everyone, I'm looking at buying a gopro, but don't really know what the advantages are for the more costly options (silver and black edition). Are the features really worth it to pay an extra 100-200? I'll be filming bank and kayak fishing and uploading to Youtube. Just want to be able to share some of the great fishing I get to do in Florida and then from the Yak once I'm back home. Thanks in advance for any advice! Quote
Oscar O. Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I've been looking into them too, I think the main difference is the quality of video and stills. From what I saw the lowest option of the cameras records 1080p video at 30fps and the silver at 60fps, and then the black has 4k (not widespread yet). I think the basic one will work fine for uploading to Youtube. If you want smoother video then go for the silver, but I'm not really sure myself what the difference will be. You may want to do a comparison of 1080p video at each frame rate to see if you find a difference and whether it is significant enough to warrant the silver or even black edition. Here's a video showing the 2 frame rates side by side, I'm sure there are more to help solidify your choice. 1 Quote
