I've never held one and I might buy a few on TW. How big are they compared to the Gen 3 Revos or the 50 size Shimanos (Both of them are about the same size)

Let me know if you want other angles. The t3 sits lower than a 50 but theres no gap on the t3 between the line guide and the reel seat to put your index finger on for leverage. Its odd at first but the reel feels good and casts incredibly far with ease.

I had a Gen 3 Revo and now have the T3 Ballistic (same as shown above), and I really like how the T3 palms. To me it feels sleek, and just disappears in my hand. I do have big hands, but it sits very low on the rod. Compared to the Revo, it may be longer from back to front, but definitely is lower (almost angled downward) in the front portion of the reel. The pics above do a great job of showing this. The front part of the reel has a nice rubber feel to it, and that's where my thumb goes when I hold it on the retrieve. It's definitely a unique feel, but one that I really enjoy.

The frame is wider. Daiwas magforce 3d braking system is ,imo, better than vbs. just such a smooth braking system. The TWS casts and pitches easier than anything ive used. The 50 shimano is still the most comfortable pitching reel made.

Besides the Handle, and weight is there much of a difference between the two?

T3 spool is much better...

I really want to try some Daiwa reels, but the spool depths are soooooo deep like the Revo's. That's a big reason why I went to Shimano's.

It's really hard to explain but even with the reels being very similar in size the 50e just feels smaller in my hand and I do have small hands. I believe it has something to do with the top of the reel. It's similar to the Tatula vs the Zillion. When measured the Tatula and the Zillion are almost identical but because the top of the reel is wider on the Tatula people think it is a lot wider because it feels wider. Here is a picture of my hands on the reel. I tried to do the best I can with not being bias. I hold with my ring finger on the trigger. My hand looks chubby :Idontknow:  but trust me I have small hands.

I must be a minority here. I bought a T3 1016 just before Christmas, and also received a Chronarch 151 CI4+ for Christmas. In my hands on the same rod the one day it was warm enough to hit the water the Chronarch just did everything better then the T3. It cast further for me with the same amount effort, I had to throw harder with the T3 to get more from it. Also I found the Chronarch pitched easier and smoother even with the same tension settings as casting. I really wanted to like the T3 because of the killer deal I got on it from TW. The Chronarch also free spools better/longer.

Ergonomics wise the Chronarch is 200% more comfortable then the T3. The T3 is noticably wider everywhere and has a ridge on the palming side plate making it far less comfortable in my hand, and because of the line guide and hood opening I can't wrap my finger around the front. The Chronarch is shaped really nicely for palming, just disappears in my hand, and no interference with my finger wrapped around the front. The T3 is very wide at the rear and front, it doesn't taper to the front like the Chronarch.

These two reels are the first high end bait casters for me. All my previous BCs are Pro Quals or a couple much older and since retires Quantams that I started with.

I wanted to love the T3 but I'm about ready to exchange it for another Chronarch CI4+ bc I can just tell if I have both reels on two different rods I'm never going to want to use the rod carrying the T3. Not sure if hand size plays into this but I definitely have smaller slimmer hands. Not saying the T3 is a bad reel bc the retrieve feel is buttery smooth and silky, handle rotation is effortless. But just don't think I can make it work.

After holding both of those reels in my hand I feel like it has less to do with the overall size of the reel and more to do with the shape. The T3 has a lot more room ahead of the spool and does not taper like most Shimanos do. The Shimano is wider towards the back of the spool. The T3 also has a "flatter" type of shape as well. Those pics actually show the differences very well above. I would recommend holding the T3 if you can for your own comparison though because it is a very uniquely shaped reel and most people either love it or hate it. The same goes for the "open hood" TWS found on the T3.

It's smaller than the tatula which makes it fine by me lol. I enjoy the hood because of it's easy engagement when pitching. B
