deadadrift89 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Which to you is more sensitive rod for t-rigs and not compare price. Thanks guys Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted January 12, 2014 Super User Posted January 12, 2014 IMO there is a reason the Gloomis GLX has been the standard that other rods have been measured by. Not to say that there are not other rods that are very good, but in my opinion it is tuff to beat a Gloomis. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 12, 2014 Super User Posted January 12, 2014 You owe it to yourself to own the GLX and see what all the hype is about! 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted January 12, 2014 Super User Posted January 12, 2014 I can't "compare" the brands, I can only comment about my experiences with the GLXs I own. Simply put, they are hands down the best contact rod I've ever used. When I fish with them, not only does it perform great...it just feels like an extension of your arm...like you were holding nothing. I own a 854, 853 and 894, best investment I ever paid. I plan to buy a NRX 895 before the summer, which I hear is even better than a GLX. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted January 12, 2014 Super User Posted January 12, 2014 I will be adding an ALX spinning rod to my 2014 arsenal. I have a several Champion Extreme rods and an NRX and IMX rod currently. I can't really compare them in a very fair manner at this point having never fished the ALX. I do believe you get what you pay for though the further up the ladder you go the differences are smaller. The NRX is very crisp and responsive but also is a ln incredibly far casting rod. The dobyns extremes are very aesthetically pleasing rods, sensitive, and well balanced. I can't comment on the ALX until I actually fish it this spring but all indications point to the rod being a stellar buy for $200ish. If you are looking for another impressive rod in the same price ballpark the megabass orochi xx rods have impressed the heck out of me for a sub $300 rod. I am sure you would be happy with any of the rods you are considering though I would bet that GLX may be best on sensitivity alone though the price is the steepest of the 3. Quote
baluga Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Between the GLX and DX, I could not tell if one is more sensitive than the other since they are both sensitive rods but I like the GLX better. Quote

I agree. As far a sensitivity goes I feel they are the same but the GLX grip is just amazing. Its like it was made for my hand. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Legend Xtreme. I've been a GLX guy for years until I fished the Legend Xtreme. The GLX is still awesome and I still fish them but that Legend is phenomenal. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 I haven't fished an ALX. I own both Dobyn's Champion Extremes and G.Loomis GLXs. I think the GLX is noticeably more sensitive than the Dobyns for t-rigs and jigs. Quote
deadadrift89 Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Thanks to all of you!! I ended up with a older model BCR803 GLX on closeout i found at local shop for $263. Its on another level from anything else i own. Quote
