Im in the market for a new tackle box/bag. I currently have a VERY old plano 9606 and need more room. I would prefer not to have two different tackle boxes. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys might have.

Things im looking for are:

space for:

12-16 spinnerbaits/buzzbaits

8-10 ½-¾ jigs (spare skirts)

hooks (texas rig, walleye, crappie, and others)

Weights ( probably half a 3700 worth)

Rapalas (probably 2 3700's for rapalas, spoons, poppers, and frogs)

Spoons

Poppers/frogs

Bobbers, and other small tackle

Tools (Needlenose, nail clippers, and a knife)

And heres the reason I need a new box/bag, the entire bottom of the 9606 is full of plastics.

I do prefer hard sided boxes but would look at soft sided bags if you guys could convince me of the durability of some of the options out there.

The leading contender is the plano 787 but it has no room for my plastics.

Thank you guys in advance for your help.

http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Qualifier-360-Backpack-or-System/product/10204414/ Thoos is what i use, plenty of room for everything you could need, and the bottom part zips off to make it a regular tackle bag if you dont need all of your gear that day.

I was in the same boat as you.  I purchased one of the Cabelas Magnum advanced angler bags.  Lot's of room and very well made.

My bag is a Plano 3700 Guide Series bag.

Plenty of room, and the 3700 boxes have a ton of variants available. I also have a travel bag that is a 3600 series bag. Holds 3x3600 size boxes. When I head out, I grab my rod(s) and my travel bag. Very portable, and doesn't take much space (don't have a boat, so I am always a co-angler).

BPS also ha Plano equivalent versions of these.

thank you guys for your responses. I have emailed plano to see if they would be willing to make a new style of tackle box that is a little larger than the 787, but if not the cabelas option is looking very nice. the large would be enough and the super magnum would be too much. I think I would really like the cabelas bag.

Another bag to look at is the XPS Stalker http://www.basspro.com/XPS-Stalker-Front-Loader-Tackle-Bag-or-System/product/10208746/

A buddy of mine has this one and he loves it http://www.basspro.com/XPS-Stalker-Tackle-Bag-or-System/product/10221672/

I have the standup model and I've been very pleased with it, holds 5 boxes and has lots of extra pockets.

I have the red BPS extreme 370 bag that I keep all of my stuff in when I go out on a boat.  For bank fishing I use a smaller tackle box that is probably 15 years old.

BPS Extreme Qualifier 370 - holds 5 3700 boxes / room for a 3600 in front pouch plus other pockets as well.  It holds all I need, but maybe not quite all that I think I need.
