Experiences With The Spittin' Wa

My favorite way to catch bass is using frogs and I crush them on the KVD Strike King, I mean I really have the technique down! So naturally I'm a bit skeptical about the Spittin' Wa. What're your experiences with it? I'd really like to hear from the avid froggers who've been using the typical hollow-body design forever and then gave the Spittin' Wa a fair shake.

It's a nice frog. I don't use it in really dense pads. Reason being is the front of the lure catches the pads and it flips or gets hung up too often. I like to use it in sparse pads or channels cut through them and around the edges. It's great for open water too over submerged weeds, especially at low light.

I agree that it isn't a great "heavy cover" frog due to the above mentioned lip. As also stated by Mark it is a fantastic open water type frog, it's easy to walk and the extra "spitting action" really is different. I don't have very many pads on the lake I typically fish but there is a ton of grass and this thing is great around the outside edges or in holes or lanes. I've found it to be very effective around wood and worked over points very much like you would a spook.  

 

I've got most of the colors but I can say, with a whole summer using them, Dirty White, Poison, and I Know It are the colors I got the most bites on. Also IMHO the 55 size isn't nearly as well thought out or designed as the 70. It is very tough for me to get them (55) to walk correctly for any amount of distance, I think this is due to them not being weighted exactly right, though this may just be me as I've not heard anyone else say they're having trouble with the 55.

Thanks fellas, if I find a place to fish with a lot of sparse cover or submerged weeds that I don't think other lures are being very effective, then I'll get one. But right now I like working the frog in dense lily pad fields so I don't see a need for it. Thanks for helping me out on this one!
