Trailer Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Fox Sports 1 has made my day by broadcasting from Daytona. Only bad thing is no cars on track due to rain. The 500 isn't too far away... Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted January 9, 2014 Super User Posted January 9, 2014 Just over six weeks 'til they fire up the engines in anger. We'll be down there five weeks from tomorrow. It helps to shorten the winter. Then the Road Trip isn't far behind. Quote
Trailer Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 I want to go to Daytona at least once in my life. I've got to learn these driver swaps that happened in the silly season. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 As munch as I like motor racing. I just can't get excited for testing. Testing never proves any thing. It don't matter if its NASCAR, F1, or any other series. Top teams and drivers are mid pack, or at the bottom of the standings. Quote
Trailer Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 I don't know if it's as much about "proving" anything to me. To me it's the start of the build up to the 500. After a few months it's just nice to see a car hit the track. But not today. It's postponed until tomorrow. And apparently Rusty Wallace will make a few laps in the Blue Deuce tomorrow... Quote
tipptruck1 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I agree it means auto racing is about the begin. In a few weeks the Rolex 24 of Dayona will be live. Then around the time the Nascar season starts. There is a 24 hour sports car race in the middle east. Around mid March. The F1 season starts and 12 hours of Sebring is run. Nascar gos to Bristol. As munch as I like the first few months of racing. I like the May, June, July months better. In May we get the Monaco f1 race, The Indy 500 and Coke 600 on the same day. In June the 24 hours of Le Mans and the 6 hours of the glen is run. Then throw in the 24 hours of the Nurburgring. To finish off the month. In July we get the fire cracker 500 at Daytona. Later in the month. There is a 24 hour race at Spa. I cant wait for the racing seasons to begin. Quote
Trailer Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 All true, except I believe the July race at Daytona is 400 miles. I always look forward to the 24 hours at Daytona. I've been trying to watch more F1 myself. Other than the Daytona 500, I have to say my favorite racing day of the year is Memorial Day weekend with the Indy 500 and Coke 600, with the Bristol night race in August a close second. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 Several of the guys at work have gone to the Brickyard 400 before. They said that was quite an experience. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 I would have to say that Charlotte is my favorite one , it's close to all the shops and you get the better chance of meeting a lot of the drivers . Quote
