bighed Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 This will be the 7th year straight I've taken my son Chad to the Classic. It falls on or near his birthday each year and I enjoy taking him more than the old money in a card deal. Will be staying at the convention center hotel. Who else will be there? Quote
Justin2 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'll be there for sure. I live in north Alabama so I'm only about an hour away. Will be my first classic, been to a few elite series tournaments. Heard it's a great experience. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 14, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 14, 2014 I'll be there again. This will be my 7th as well. 1 Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted January 15, 2014 Super User Posted January 15, 2014 so i'm curious what i could expect for a first timer? i live about 3 hours away so it's feasible to make a trip while it's there. i'm just wondering what all i can do, see while there? Quote
bighed Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Go to the Expo which is the best bass fishing show you will ever go to. Meet the pro's you've seen on tv since you were a kid. Buy tackle at good prices and see new stuff you didn't know existed. Go to the launch each morning, the weigh in each afternoon. Meet up with friends with real names from other parts of the country you have only ever know as bighead and the like. If you leave the Classic without wanting to start your own tackle business or take a shot at qualifying for next year you might want to have your pulse checked! Just do it! Quote
BryanBrown Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 This is my first year going, was wondering if there is a schedule of appearances or is it just hit or miss with meeting the pros? Quote
gripnrip Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 This is my first year going, was wondering if there is a schedule of appearances or is it just hit or miss with meeting the pros? It was in my backyard last year. Although I don't remember a schedule, there are tons of opportunities to meet a bunch of pros. Some of the past pros like Hank Parker and Bill Dance will be there I am sure. The pros that aren't fishing will be hanging out at the expo and the ones that don't make the cut will be there as well. They will be all roaming around. I would suggest being there when the expo opens. Take some extra bags for all the free stuff they'll be handing out. I went to the expo on Friday with my daughter. I went to Sunday's weigh in with my best bud and my son. We had a total blast. I was like a kid in a candy store! Quote
coots Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I like on Lake Guntersville. I'm wondering.. or actually I heard that the weigh ins will be down in Birmingham. Can someone confirm this for me please? Quote

coots Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Yes, here's a link to the info that everyone will need: http://www.bassmaster.com/attend-2014-bassmaster-classic Talk about a bummer! Fishing on the Lake that is literally 5 minutes from my house, only to want me to drive 2 1/2 hours to the weigh-in... no thanks Quote
bighed Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Lots of options to enjoy the classic there coots. Ride around the lake and watch your favorite pro fish and skip the weigh in. Go to the expo and take in the weigh in on the same trip, etc. The closest trip it's been for me was 3 1/2 hours drive to Shreveport. Longest was a flight Dallas to South Carolina. I've enjoyed each Classic a ton and think you would too. Quote
gripnrip Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Talk about a bummer! Fishing on the Lake that is literally 5 minutes from my house, only to want me to drive 2 1/2 hours to the weigh-in... no thanks You won't regret it man! Grand Lake an hour and a half from my house. We drove up to watch them take off. We then came back to Tulsa to eat a hearty breakfast then expo and the weigh in. The BOK Center is 15 minutes from my house. That is where the weigh in was located. I don't regret it one bit. The Super Bowl of bass fishing was in my backyard and I soaked it all up! Quote
