hoosierbass07 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'm hoping this really cold and snowy winter will bring a normal spring and summer and fall later in the year. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted January 17, 2014 Super User Posted January 17, 2014 Have to say that speeding up my Master's program and landing a ton of side-work is keeping me from thinking about not being able to fish right now. With any luck I'll make some time to ski too. Luckily, for those late nights after the family's asleep and at the Firehouse, there's still Bassresource.com Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 best thing about this winter for me is i dont feel the need to buy anymore new gear or tackle. eventually i probably will end up with a few new lures, but i havent been actively looking for anything specific. normally around mid-february i will make a trip to BPS, so i will probably end up with a few things then provided i make the trip this year to Anne Arundel Mills BPS in Hanover, MD. Otherwise i got plenty of plastics and line to get me through the year, may get a few extra bags of plastics i use a lot but dont really need to. also, the urge to go fishing hasnt really hit me yet, im sure it will soon enough though. i was thinking about it pretty good while laying around sick last week, but that has since passed... Big Jon Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I can think of only two good things about this, or any other winter. 1. I save about a hundred dollars per week on gasoline by not hauling the boat around to the various fishing holes. Fuel for the boat is minimal by comparison. 2. I get stuff done around the house which keeps my bride happy, and more importantly quiet during the fishing season. Good point. I don't have a boat, but point 2 is spot on. Quote
Bass Menace Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Saw that you guys up in the Northern states had a Polar vortex or something.... Being at 30 deg South on the Indian Ocean we have very mild weather in Winter. This allows us to fish all year round. I read the thread one member posted about ice fishing for perch, very interesting and something very foreign to us. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 21, 2014 Global Moderator Posted January 21, 2014 Hunting season is the only good thing about winter. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 21, 2014 Super User Posted January 21, 2014 More snow and cold weather came in last night. Nuts. Quote
SpinnerbaitSlinger Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 cold weather is killin me. hasn't been much above 20 degrees at its warmest. ive resorted to pitching across my living room to the bucket we put our Christmas tree in. more snow is predicted in the coming days Quote
bassguytom Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Making enough baits to choke a horse. I just made a mold of the "unappealing otter" it's not ugly by any means. But it sure looks that way. Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Only good thing about winter is being able to have the time to clean your gear and perfect everything for next season. My boat has been gone through top to bottom. Oh and every cold day means the bass will be that much hungrier come spring Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 25, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 25, 2014 Two more days of sleet, snow, & freezing rain! Bye Bye Giant Salvinia!!! Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Fly Fishing on a limestone trout stream in 25 degree air temperatures with snow falling all around you and no one else in sight is one of the true joys in all of fishing. I welcome winter every year (as well as Spring (Smallmouth), Summer (Musky), Fall (Smallmouth & Musky)) Quote
Yumf2 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Ice fishing for walleye when it's not rediculously cold out here in WI. It's the only way I can make it through winter. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted January 25, 2014 Super User Posted January 25, 2014 Best thing about this winter is my boy got a boat!! Quote
