Super User Fishing Rhino Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 I started a thread about a boating accident in Westport, MA. The first accident took place a few years ago. I should have paid more attention, but my excuse goes like this. My wife called me downstairs to tell me about a boating accident in town. She said the details were sketchy and they hadn't released the names of those involved. There was something about two boats, or two deaths. So, I got on my computer and searched "Westport MA boating accident". The only hit was the first article I posted. Shortly after posting the first, which I thought had happened on Sunday, what I thought was a second accident happened today. There you have it. Both are true. The first was old news. The second is current. Sorry about that. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 No problem, it still helps to be aware and cautious of the dangers out there Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 Both stories are of interest to us. So don't feel bad. Feel bad when you get skunked; or you forget your wife's birthday; or you son turns down a full academic scholarship to MIT to attend Bamasux; or opening your Christmas present and finding a Toolame football tee shirt in the box. Now those are reasons to be upset. Thanks for posting. Enjoy your posts. Quote

I knew it, Roll Tide brother. Thanks for posting Rhino, even though one part wasn't current it still reminds us all to be a little more careful and to use our better judgment. There was a similar situation at Lake Seminole yesterday or today. 3 teenage boys went out duck hunting on the Lake and thier boat capsized. 2 of the boys were hospitalized and 1 drowned. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 Rhino it has been almost two years since I lost a very good friend who was fishing on the local power plant lake (Baldwin Lake) here in So. Illinois. It is known to be a dangerous body of water when the wind blows, and he was fishing alone early in the year from a small boat without wearing a life preserver. I have fished alone on the lake, in the same conditions (from the same boat and others like it) many times. I was lucky, he was not. Having seen the devastation that happens when a husband, father, and friend is taken under these circumstances I have a better understanding of my responsibility to take the proper safety precautions while on the water. Thanks for the post. Old story or new it is important that we be reminded that taking safety for granted is a dangerous thing. 2 Quote
