annexation Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 It's gimmicky, sure. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be fun to throw one. It probably catches as good as any other crank of its type. That price, though. Quote
doyle8218 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I won't be buying either, it's made to catch fishermen. You think a bass has time to inspect those baits and choose it over a standard version of the same lure? I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted January 10, 2014 Super User Posted January 10, 2014 I have seen that.... Myself.. I giggled I won't use it for a couple reasons but, that said I say if you believe in it or wanna try it ,by all means try it. I thought the same about the Arig and I was wrong on it... Arig is at times incredibly effective. Happy fishing!!! Quote
bass1980 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 My thoughts are if you enjoy the hobby and want a bait to be cool looking then go for it. The great detail in these baits can't hurt it just like a custom painted crank. However the part I think is silly is with it being 3 fish vs 1. Like I said, if you want to throw a cool looking lure, great. If you think 3 fish in a crank works better than 1 you fell for it. Quote
mjseverson24 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I am going to buy a few of these for the next season, I see good potential for this bait going for suspended fish in clear water, also the jerkbait looks good for smallies early in the year. not good for stained water as noise and vibration win in those conditions. At worst they will produce as well as any other crank bait, and at best better. Mitch Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted January 10, 2014 Super User Posted January 10, 2014 true but I'm not spending 4 or 5 dollars more for it. TrippyJai Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I won't be trying them for $15 each. They look cool though. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 The UPS truck (delivering on Saturday because they could not deliver to me the last three days) finally delivered my package from Tackle Warehouse. So I got one of those bait balls. I bought the square bill version. It comes nicely packaged and it has a sticker on the package that says "Best New Hard Bait ICAST 2013". Looking at it, hmm, I don't know. When I ordered it I figured it was more a gimmick than anything else. Now, I'm still thinking it's more a gimmick. I almost didn't want to open the package. I was thinking it's so unusual maybe it would be a collectors item some day. Then I got to thinking - don't fishing gimmicks come along every so often and really nothing but junk? This might be one of them. Still, I'm glad to have it. I'll try it out later this spring when I'm out on the water on my kayak. It's packaged nicely though. I don't think I'll be buying any more though because $15 for one lure is a little too high for me. Quote
Grantman83 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I wonder of the jerkbait would work moreso because the fish have to actually look at it as opposed to the crankbait which is a quick reaction bite Quote
