Bassking007 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I watched some pros use use the Live Target Bait Ball as a prototype and slay the fish. I was just wondering if any of you have used it and can tell me if its worth spending that amount of money on it? Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 I was just wondering if any of you have used it and can tell me if its worth spending that amount of money on it? No, have not used it. If you think it's going to catch you more fish , go for it. I will not be buying any. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 I won't be buying either, it's made to catch fishermen. You think a bass has time to inspect those baits and choose it over a standard version of the same lure? Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 Gimmick!!!This might be one to buy and file away as an unbelievable collectors item in the future. Hootie Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 Nope, and I don't plan to. Quote
KDW96 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Its a NOWAY for me also. If i could get them for a dollar apiece, they would make neat things to put on a key ring? Just another gimmick, kinda like the a-rig.Just my opinion though.......... 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 Just another gimmick, kinda like the a-rig.......... Really? Although I am not impressed with this lure, I have been VERY impressed by The Rig. 5 Quote
Bass Junkie Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I'll be trying them. Do I expect them to be revolutionary? No. Are they a cool concept? To me, yes. Just my opinion 2 Quote
TrapperJ Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I think its a pretty cool idea when i saw it, but my first thought at seeing the iCAST video was especially the crankbait you will be moving it so fast anyways they will never notice the detail. What RW said, for me, just remember its not a magic lure, I have had one unreal moment with the A-Rig last year, for about 30+ mins i found a school and they were on, crushing my A-Rig every cast it was a strike or a fish. No monsters but solid 2 pounders that wanted to jerk the rod out of my hand, never felt a bite so ferocious. Other times for me its just been a typical lure that gets me a bite/fish now and then. That one moment has me hooked on throwing it and looking for "ride" again. Zona said it best though Mother Nature will condition her babies to understand that A-Rig, at one time people thought a spinnerbait would catch every bass in the lake. Enjoy the ride while it lasts. Jon G Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 No I wont be buying it a crankbait's purpose is to trigger a reaction so i highly doubt it would matter if it was painted like a school of bait fish or not. If you were truley trying to mimic a school of baitfish your best option would be to throw an A-rig or something in that sort of nature. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 I think they are cool looking and might work as stated for shallow, clear water. Still just gonna look like something banging into stuff and shaking in the water. Quote
Upwards Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 No doubt they look cool, I don't think I will be spending money on this though. When I seen this on a "best of iCAST" page I was definitely intrigued. But after some thought I agree with the others. The bass isn't going to inspect the lure, he's just going to strike. Quote

I think the evidence speaks to it not being a gimmick. As for the bait ball, I'll wait to see how it produces but I won't close my mind or develop an opinion until then. Quote
JeziHogg Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I think its a cool idea, but crank baits are a reaction bait, color isn't as important as the action. I am however looking forward to fishing the Livetarget HFC Crawfish. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I've placed two recent orders form some new on the market lures (maybe the Duo lure is not all that new) - one for some Duo Realis Spinbait 80 for spybaiting and another for one of those live target bait ball crankbaits. I ordered three Spinbait 80 lures and already received them. I think they will work for me catching bass. I have not received the bait ball crankbait yet but when I ordered it I figured it was more a gimmick than a real good lure. That's why I only ordered one bait ball lure and ordered three of those Duo lures. I'm pretty sure the Duo lures will work for me. The bait ball, I'm not sure. Then again, none of them may not work for me. I only have faith in soft plastics. Everything else, little faith. Quote
KDW96 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I meant no disrespect to any one who uses an a-rig.? 1 Quote
Primus Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I will buy a couple, part of the fun of fishing is trying new stuff. Those who say it's a gimmick, is this based on personal experience with the bait ? Quote
CTGalloway21 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I meant no disrespect to any one who uses an a-rig.? a-rig is the best lure(s) for striper in the creeks and rivers here in Alabama. I am not ashamed to throw them. Quote
pitchin fool Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 So is every color a gimic? Sould any cranks be painted with any detail at all? Maybe they should just be all green to look like a fish, all red to be a craw, and nothing else? There are many cranks out there in that price range that are painted fancy and fly past a fish in the same manner, yet people buy them without hesitation. I am just saying it can't hurt to give it that look, cause the bottom line is, we are trying to make our lures look like prey of some kind. 1 Quote
dam0007 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I want to try a jerkbait one of these on a 30+ second pause. Quote
McAlpine Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 When they first hit the market, the "wacky worm" was an "as seen on tv" gimmick too. Food for thought boys. 1 Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I saw a new Bill Dance episode last night (his new 2014 episodes are now on) and he featured the Booyah Boo Teaser Rig. Now that thing looked like a bait ball. It looked small and compact. I definitely want to try it this summer. Quote

I choose color on water clarity and what gives bass best profile or reaction. I'm not sure how this lure improves anything. It moves same amount of water and has same flash of color. This will sell lures no doubt and that's the ultimate goal of a successful business. Quote
SudburyBasser Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 About two weeks ago I bought a jerkbait and crankbait Baitball. I won't able to use them until the hard water goes away but they look interesting...you never know... Quote
