Brent Christian Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Its a 1990 Shadow Speed Boat.. I have a motor and all controls to put on it? Anyway i can convert this to a conventional bass boat? Quote
Super User slonezp Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 I don't know about a conventional bass boat, but you could install a Terrova or Powerdrive V2 Ipilot electric steer trolling motor on the bow. The Ipilot has a handheld remote control you'd be able to use anywhere in the boat. Deploying it and retrieving it might be a bich, but I don't see anyway you could put a cable steer on there. Another option would be to build a mount on the transom to accept a transom mount trolling motor. Quote
Brent Christian Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 i have a 6'' jackplate and a 150 to go on it, the boat had a 225 on it.. im just concerned about the front "deck" its flat enough i could stand on it and plenty strong enough, i can put a foot control trolling motor on it alos.. Super User slonezp Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 The front "deck" is going to be slippery if it gets water or blood and slime on it. Quote
Dyerbassman Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Is it yours or something you're looking at? I wouldn't be standing on the front of that, either! Quote
Brent Christian Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 it is mine, i thought abou putting the non skid on the front of it its something i could take my faily out on and at the same time fish Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 I don't want to sound discouraging…It'll never be what you want it to be. I wouldn't bother with trying to fish off the front. You could put a transom mount trolling motor on it, a fish finder, and use it as is. 2 Quote
mhtranger Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'm thinking it would sit to low in the water if you tried to fish shallow. I also agree that the front deck would be no fun to fish from for any length of time. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 7, 2014 Super User Posted January 7, 2014 I'm with J, it's a cool boat but it'll never be a good bass boat. I'd consider selling it and finding something else.. 1 Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I agree with what was previously said. I think you are going to spend a lot of money trying fix something up that you will never be really happy and comfortable fishing in. My guess is that by the time you get trolling motor, batteries, sonar electronics, other miscellanious parts/repairs, ect. You are going to have spent enough money that you could have just bought used nice aluminum fishing boat. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 If you dropped anything while fishing on the front deck.....say goodbye to it. It'll roll/bounce right off. Looks like a boat you could set up to troll with. Quote
