n8cas4 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Saw the episode yesterday - great show. I saw Dave Mercer's live target baitball series jerkbait, but what jerkbait was BP throwing? Twern't no husky jerk. Quote
Grantman83 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Saw on another thread it was the storm twitch stick Quote
BradGuenette Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Looked like a MB Vision 110 to me!! 1 Quote
n8cas4 Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 On closer inspection, it doesn't look like a storm twitch stick. Maybe a luck-e-strike or megabass. Anybody else see it? Mercer puts it up right in front of the camera when landing one of BP fish Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 I've tried a lot of jerkbaits. I have one box devoted just to them. From Bombers to Husky Jerks, Pointers to KVD....all kinds. Let me tell ya, it's just a tool. I do not believe one is a great deal better than another, under similar conditions. When bass are on the jerkbait bite, it's the fisherman behind the tool that gets the job done. It's like a chisel in the hands of a finish carpenter. A very personalized presentation that can be deadly when properly used. 3 Quote
Crankinstein Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 This is off subject but did anyone think that Trophy was gonna fall overboard when they had it up at the front? Water kept splashing over the bow and I kept thinking man that'd make an expensive anchor if it went over. 1 Quote
JKarbo214 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I didn't think it was a Storm Twitch Stick. Anyone recognize the jerkbait and color? I'm curious to know. I can't believe they brought the trophy out there with them and left it on the front deck as the waves got bigger and bigger. Pretty risky if you ask me. I thought it was a very entertaining episode though. Hoping they continue throughout the new season. Quote
Mckinney24v Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 The bit where they pulled it up in front of the camera is definitely a RC STX or a 110. Quote
n8cas4 Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 Would have been more entertaining had it gone over. Underwater cameras find it and they spend Half an hour trying to hook it with their flipping setups. How long have you spent trying to hook something that went overboard in super clear water? Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 Definitely not a Storm Twitch stick, they look more like a LC Pointer. That's either a Clunn STX, or MB 110. Like crestliner2008, I have fished them all and it's the guy pulling the trigger more so than the bait. I'll take the sub $10 baits like the Storm, SK KVD'S, and the Clunn STXs any day over $15 pointers, and $25 MB 110s in the pike infested waters around here. 1 Quote
boostr Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Another side note, did the time and day change for the show. My DVR didn't record it. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 That is Mercer with a 110 or STX, I don't think Brandon was throwing the same thing...Or was he? 1 Quote
mnbassman23 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I made the comment to my wife as we started watching it that Brandon was most likely throwing a 110. And like others said it was either a STX or 110. If you pay attention to footage from the elite tournaments, MLF, etc. you'll find that many times the pros will not be throwing their sponsors baits. Super User ww2farmer Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 . If you pay attention to footage from the elite tournaments, MLF, etc. you'll find that many times the pros will not be throwing their sponsors baits. And for the life of me, I can't fiqure out why people care about that. Pro's can be sheep too. I think some people would be very suprised to learn that often times the diff. between a pro, and a good local nobody is the connections he has, the ammount of money they have to play with, and how well they can kiss backsides. 4 Quote
n8cas4 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Purple flash RC STX luck e strike. You think? Quote
Megastink Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Purple flash RC STX luck e strike. You think? No. I think it was a Pro Blue g2 110. Its gotta be a 110. Every Bass pro throws 110's. KVD did it on Amistad MLF. How many guys toss them in the early season? Im 1,000% convinced that its a 110. 1 Quote
n8cas4 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 You're probably right. I've never shelled out the money for a MB Ito vision. When I looked at the pro blue on TW it seems to be translucent through the body - it didn't look too translucent on the show or in the poor quality picture I took Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted January 10, 2014 Super User Posted January 10, 2014 That is Mercer with a 110 or STX, I don't think Brandon was throwing the same thing...Or was he? Mercer was lipping Brandon's fish for him. Just watched the episode before I hopped onto the computer tonight... solid show. I'm leaning towards the 110. Quote
TrippyJai Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Is it written anywhere that a Pro must use their sponsor products are all times? If I was a pro, I would not limit myself to what I carry in my boat. Every pro has lures that aren't from sponsors including old treasured bagleys, 110s, wiggle warts, etc. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 10, 2014 Super User Posted January 10, 2014 My guess is GP pro blue magnum 110 Quote
