Super User rockchalk06 Posted January 5, 2014 Super User Posted January 5, 2014 I had planned on getting the 5S a few months ago but decided to take a look at the Andriod platform this go around. I've been an apple man for a long time. The 5S had a decent battery, was fast and familiar like most apple products. That said the new IOS7 sucked like no tomorrow. I had it on my 4 and my iPad and hated it everyday. It had so many problems, I went to the Verizon store and had them wiped out to the older version. I went with the HTC one and have never been more impressed. Compared the 5S, the One's camera and video quality was top notch. I do all kinds of pictures videos etc and this phone blows everything I had tested out of the water Apple products have way more control over apps and software plugging the holes for bugs and screw ups. I can't remember an app giving me trouble. They own the market for this. Facetime and device syncing works on the apple program better than the others. Facetime especially. Even a weak 4G or wifi signal can make a good facetime call. I really wish Andriod would address this as nothing else has come close to apples facetime. I keep an iPad 2 around just to do video chat with my son. Quote
Mike2841 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I prefer iPhones over android because they are simple and easy. I also like that they are smaller than most androids, I don't know how guys own a galaxy note without owning a murse. I've grown very accustomed to iOS so when I use an android it feels very foreign. If you've ever had an iphone before you'll like the 5, if not try an iphone and an android side by side and see what you like better. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted January 5, 2014 Super User Posted January 5, 2014 I've owned Apple iPhones since the second generation and have the 5, I finally think the competition has caught up with Apple and is superior in many ways, but since I am entrenched with iTunes, Apps, etc I cannot see myself jumping platforms to the Android devices. If I were in the market for a new phone I would get a Samsung Galaxy 4. My one major complaint on the new iPhone 5 is battery life as a power user. This is why I never took the full plunge into the apple world, I still did buy some pricy apps, one of my dumb mistakes was a month before switching platforms I bought the navionics app on the iphone, what a joke on such a tiny screen. The brighter side is I could buy a ipad later on and use all the apps on there. I had planned on getting the 5S a few months ago but decided to take a look at the Andriod platform this go around. Far as apps, I ran my iphone hard and would crash apps plenty of times, that was just how i used it though, not a common problem Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) I will say that I'm not happy with all the upgrades. My iPhone and iPad has and my sons IPad mini all have the new style lightning cable ends and they won't allow video out. Hence, I can't watch YouTube or Netflix on the DVD head unit in my truck. They do make a lightning to HDMI cable so I may be able to go from the hdmi to the USB port? Edited January 6, 2014 by Hi Salenity Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 These threads are almost as entertaining as the Shimano/Lews threads... And yes, you can use the lightning to HDMI adapter. I like the lightning cable better than the old cable they used. Quote

I agree I like the lightning cable but the one that comes with the phone is not a video cable They do make a $50 cable that does support video but it comes out as hdmi. Do you think someone makes a video cable that could go from the HDMI to the USB input on my Kenwood? Quote

Nothing beats people hating on shimanos 1 Quote

Insanity Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Man they got a five out now. J/k. Guess it's getting time to upgrade my old 8 gig iPhone 3. Lol. It's been a few years. With an Otter Box. The darn thing has been bullet proof. And they send me upgrades to keep it running the new apps. The wife had problems with her 3 when when she got it. We had to drive to Nashville about 45 miles away to the nearest apple store. To get them to fix it. They couldn't fix it and admitted it was a programming error and was sorry for our drive. So they gave her a brand new 4 that was going on the shelf the next day. So we are happy with everything Apple. I'm typing on a Apple tablet rite now. . Quote
