dreamertino Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 My leader knots are usually a couple wraps on my spool, maybe at the tip, maybe 3 eyes down, absolutely doesn't mater with the right lines and knot's! It didn't matter where they were with Power Pro I had issues from time to time. Not with Sufix 832 With the leader I just tied it will be on my spool as well. I had to tie that long of a leader bc I am fishing deeper water also bc the fish are spooky. Does it hurt the double uni knot being on the spool and coming thru the guides. Quote

I have not had any problems after years of using these length's for my leaders. I used fireline for years, mainly because of it's strength and abrasion, 2 years ago I found Sufix, no more feeling it drag thru my guides, smaller diameter, and retains the top of the pecking order for abrasion resistance among Braids, acording to my findings and several test's with different braids and synthetics, mono, fluoro, copol. I think if you try it you will agree, your problem will be gone and you will consider it the best braid option out there at this time. If you do let us know how it did!!! Good Luck whatever you try!! If I try to cast with the knot between the reel and the guide closest to the reel, it does not turn out well. Luckily, I found out this was the problem early back when I started using leaders so I never broke anything. I have tested this with two rods and both times showed that the knot (tried several knots as well) should not be between that area. Quote
