Winter In California

I know asking this is going to sound bad because all other states lakes are frozen over, but anyway in San Jose California it's been the driest and warmest winter in decades averaging out around 70 air temperature and it's been affecting the bass's willingness to feed. It's been hard to get a bite in this awkward temperature for this time of year. Because the bass think its winter but it really is more like spring so what I'm really asking is how can it locate fish easily and what lures should I use.

The last Bass I caught was on Nov. 3, then somebody flipped a switch and the Bass were gone. I have tried everything but the Bass aren't buying what I'm selling. According to my Iphone, Friday thru Monday is going to be 70-72! I'm going fishing everyday after work. I'm going to use Senkos, Spinnerbaits, Jerk baits, Jigs, Crank baits, Jika rigged Baby Brush Hogs & worms, C-rigs and whatever else I can find. If I catch something I'll let you know what I used.

Water temps are between 42 to 48 locally. That's winter. However I'm finding them shallower than I would think, 5-10 ft range. Try jigs and craws. For the way to easily locate them, I haven't found it myself yet.

Well I'm in so cal and it's been unusually warm. About a week ago I did well on a t rigged senko. Same spot I got one nibble on a c rig and then it totally shut down.

The lakes I fish aren't very deep maybe 10-12' max. I'm starting to think that the high pressure systems are really affecting them but there's no way I can say for sure since I'm really only focusing on bottom baits. Maybe they want spinners or cranks?

I'm really waiting for the weather to turn to a more normal temperature.

Your not alone, I'm having the same issue. I haven't been able to catch a bass in a couple months either besides a small one i caught on a jerkbait that seemed like it was dead, when I pulled him up to the surface it just layed over on its side and didn't really move. The water temp is in the low to mid 40's. Even the striper bite has completely disappeared about 3 weeks ago. Before this cold weather came in (low 29* high 52*) the striper bite was amazing. Even though I'm having trouble catching 1 fish per trip I still go out there almost everyday hoping things will change.

Ive been out three times lately and have not not gotten a bite, even tried live minnows c rig. Water is 48 in one low lake and 43 in the higher lakes. I hear of people catching a few, but not me.

You may want to try millerton. I haven't got the chance to fish at all this year, but a few of my coworkers have been doing decent there.

Not here in fresno. Lately ive been sticking fish flipping jigs with the bass hitting on the fall, squarebills and spinnerbaits have worked well. Loving this warm winter, all these bass are in prespawn here

Been killing them on crank baits since November in San Diego County. The bass don't know the date, therefore don't know what time of year it's supposed to be. They work off water temps. If the water is in the 50s start fishing your normal prespawn spots and patterns and you'll find them. If you know you're around fish get a reaction bait out and get them to react, ie cranks, jerk baits, and spinner baits. Use your graph to find the bait, the fish will be close by.
