Remember the first time you spoke with someone over the phone from this site after reading all their posts ?

I don't know if you are like me , but I try to get a picture in my head of what they may sound like or look like and try to get a picture of their personality .

I just spoke to Jigfishn10 today after lots and lots of posts and texts that we shared , what a great guy and thanks for the conversation , it was great to hear your voice my friend .

Or the first time you got the chance to fish with someone from here , Quanjig was one of the best experiences I have ever had , but I never pegged him for a cigar kind of guy , but what a true wealth of knowledge .

Zoff , Never have I had an experience quite like meeting this cat , from the get go , the very first trip out , I'm on the back of the boat , we pull into a small cove and we are just chatting away when all of a sudden , HOLY CRAP THERE IS A BIG OL BASS RIGHT THERE !!!! , I have a huge smile on my face and shaking my head at the enthusiasm , very funny moment for sure , but the family time was a gift I will never forget either.

Traveler , we shared very few words , I never seen anyone get excited over a sign posted on a boat dock before , I gotta admit it was a funny caption though.

Sam may be the biggest surprise , this cat has got a great sense of humor but looked nothing like I imagined when I met him for the first time along with Endless , both were a joy to share a day with .

Moments like these are priceless to me and I can't wait to meet more of you someday .

I've got to meet and fish with several guys off the forum, I consider all of them to be good friends of mine and some are regular fishing partners now. I'd love to make the road trip some time to meet some of the other guys I interact with on the boards.

Let me tell you what I know about Sonny (nitrofreak), he has got to be, hands down, one of the most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! He had mentioned in a couple posts that he would love to get on a great jig bite and I offered to take him to Burke Lake early last December and see if we could find them in the brush piles. Little did I know they were about to draw the lake down about 12' to do some upgrades to the dam. Not that we couldn't fish with the water the way it was but I wanted to really get on some good fish with him. We decided to hit the Occoquan reservoir instead. We caught some fish and we ran around the res and did some sight seeing as I pointed out some of what the res had to offer. What I will remember the most is the absolute joy it was getting to know Sonny! We swaped stories about families and friends, our great experiences here on BR and of course what we both enjoy about fishing!! The biggest thing that stands out in my mind the most that day was , Sonny was excited when he caught fish, but was equally excited when I did as well!

Sonny, you are always welcome in my boat, just remember it's very narrow, don't fall in!! lol!!

I was just talking about this to someone over a private message...LOL. He was expressing how he has not met anyone yet, and I commented how fortunate I have been to have met and fished with 3 members from BR. They are great guys, and if the opportunity presents itself again, I would go with each of them again. When you meet for the first time in person, its a cool experience because its a transition from the internet world to the real world.

I've had the pleasure of fishing with 2 of our Mods (00 mod & Roadwarrior)

Both of these guys are an absolute pleasure to be around. Some of the best conversations I have had in a while. The enthusiasm they both have for fishing reminds me of myself. You just gotta love fishing and you will have a great time with them. I look forward to the winter trout fishing to end so I can meet up with them again to chase some green fish  :eyebrows:

Only person from this site I've fished with is Bassn Blvd, where the heck has he been.  He met me at the inlet but he was on the other jettie as I had this nice snook on the line, it's dark but he sees me and yells over, is that you?  I yell back and as he approaches me I can't lift this snook up, so he goes down on the ledge and fishes it our for me.  Offers to go back to his truck for his camera, but I told him don't bother it's only a 15 pounder, lol.  The highlight of fishing with him was 1 morning on the beach, he gets hit by about a 10# jack, lands it with 10# line med spinning a 2500 reel, I was skunked, I was happy and proud of him. That jack was a great fight.

When I was 11 or 12 years old I worked for a chicken farmer, grading eggs shoveling out the chicken coops into the manure spreader, and then getting to drive the tractor spreading all the chit I had just shoveled.  I also cut, raked and sometime even baled the hay.  Hay might not go with chickens, but he also had a flock of sheep, and some goats.  At that time, I'd have done it just to drive the tractor.

He told me, and every other kid that ever worked for him, "You're so bright, your mother calls you sonny."  If you had a penny for every time you've heard that .............................

Yes, and everyone has been great.

Hope we can do another Virginia "Meet and Greet" this summer. Traveler, Nitro, Zoff and the other guys were great.

Glenn and the Mods do a great job getting rid of the jerks that infiltrate the site from time to time.

Happy New Year.

We could have a lengthy conversation about this for sure LOL !!  My Great Grandfather gave me that name , Sonny , Sonny Boy , most common of what he called me by , it just stuck and everyone called me that , funny thing was , I did not know I had a real name until I was 8 years old LOL !!!

I had the chance to fish with Rhino around thanksgiving and i must say he is a stand up guy.

we didn't get off to the smoothest start as we forgot to put in the plug and left the motor stand on lol but after that we got a few fish. and he caught the bigone of the day. i would fish with anyone here on br if they were half as courteous and friendly as he was.
