Braid on everything and 4' to 12' leaders of mono, fluoro for the conditions and tactic's, my leader never exceeds the line weight rating on the rod, and always lighter than the braid mainline. just the way I do it,,,,,, :Copy_of_icon_thumright:

As for braid with leaders.  Like others, I have braid as main line and use at the minimum leader length of my fishing rod in general.

For deep (15'+), open water, I prefer straight fluoro, in a lighter diameter.  For fishing shallow (less than 10') weeds, I like 15 or 20# braid with a 4-6" leader of something really tough, like Seaguar fluoro leader material or P-Line CXX, in 8-12# diameter.  If I'm bubba shotting, I'll use the straight 65# braid that's already on my flipping stick.

My leader is about 5' and I have the 10lb co polymer leader 8lb I am taking it out to test it. Im using a #1 VMC spinshot hook on this outing I hope it works out. Thanks for all the good info.

Yep - if you do use a swivel you gotta watch for reeling into your tip top - I forgot to mention that.

"Bubba Shot" is just upsized dropshot - think big bait and strong hooks but the same hook above a weight rig.

Ive been using 10# braid tied with a swivel to a 3-4' flouro leader for 2 yrs now. Fine wire hook on a ML weight rod. The swivel keeps the line twist out. No problems with it.
