I'm looking into purchasing a Kistler KLX rod. For those of you who have a Kistler how's their customer service? Their rods are warranted for 1yr but also have an extended warranty past the 1yr. It does worry me somewhat that they offer only a 1yr warranty. What really draws me to them is that the rods are made in the USA and blanks are NFC. The price seems good but is quality and customer service worth it or should I spend more and buy a rod from another company with a longer warranty? It's not that I abuse my equipment at all. If I'm going to spend my hard earned money I want to know that I'm going to be taken care of if needed and a product of high quality.

From what I've read, the KLX series is a fantastic rod for its price range. the reason for the 1 year warranty (and I admit I don't like it) is because a rod, if it were to have many manufacturer defects, will show up within the first year. As for the customer service, i've never dealt with them.

I remember seeing a thread up here awhile back with some horror stories.

I have more than 10 Kistlers. Some are 5 or more years old. No broken rods but I did have one hook keeper break and they replaced it at no charge. Since then they changed the keeper style. I am very pleased with Kistlers.

Thanks guys for the input. The horror stories kinda worries me somewhat.

To own 10 Kistlers they must be doing something right!

I've been using Kistler rods for years and have not had one breakage issue. The KLX rods are the best thing going right now with the NFC blank. They are fantastic rods for sure. If the rod has defects Trey will take care of you, though I have yet to see one that hasn't been dead straight and built as close to custom you can get out of a production rod. They are well worth the price. No, I'm not on the pro staff. Just a Kistler / Daiwa fan boy. These rods are head and shoulders better that previous magnesiums.

Excellent customer service.

Replaced my Helium LTA when tip broke off due to my negligence.

No questions asked.

I give kistler for being open about their issues. They have an entire article on their site about the blank issues they were having. The klx has been getting a ton of praise and their revamped helium line might work to bring them back into the good graces of consumers

You mind to tell what happened?

Not sure about their customer service but after checking out a friends KLX I will be buying one! Or ten!

If you don't mind me asking where's the best place to purchase one. I've wanted a helium sense they first came out. Never heard anything but good thing about customer service back then.

I just went to my garage and counted the number of Kistlers. (My two sons keep their gear at my house too.) We have 27.

Ah yep that works. I didn't think they had prices on it when I looked before.

There was a time when the quality was off. Now I have confidence because of the source of the blanks. Most of ours are Z-bones. But we have all models, magnesiums, Heliums and of course the bones. I don't have any affiliation other than fan loyalty. But we own other brands too. I used to order a lot of custom rods but now I consider a Z-bone much like a custom rod. But my Z-bones are the stock rods.
