Hydrowave Install Help On Tracker 175 -2013

Well instead of giving the boys at bps my money I thought I should be able to do this on my own.

So where do I run the power for this? All the way back to my battery? The cable hydrowave gives you is only 6' if I need to run it to the battery I guess I'll need longer wire or Can you splice into a wire up front? Like the positive from the fishfinder?

I removed my top panel at the bow and looked around hoping for an accessory connector or something if there is I didn't spot it. This is all I have currently done no splicing or anything waiting to hear feedback before I go blindly cutting wires. Haha

Anyone have experience with installing hydrowave? Thanks!

I wouldn't splice into the graph wires for fear of interference. I'm not familiar with the HW but I'd Get some 16/2 or 18/2 marine wiring and run it back to the battery. solder on some butt connectors and fuse it close to the battery.

Ahhh yeah agree I'd fear interference on the finder. So yea probably not a good idea. There's other positives up here though, the lights and the trolling motor. But I guess nothing will beat running it back to the battery.

The trolling motor may cause interference with the HW. The lights are run off a rocker switch, so your lights will need to be on to use it.

Dang no substitute I guess for the best way ha which means I have no idea how to feed those wires down thru my boat to get to the batteries, or more trouble than I want to make for myself, may have to end up taking it to bps instead.

Just splice some 16 gauge marine wire and run it to the fuse panel... at least that's what I do with everything, so incase problems arise, I can more easily diagnose the problem.

Look around real good inside the bow behind the plug panel for the trolling motor. I have not looked at my 2013 190 yet, but the mechanic at the dealer I bought mine told me they have 2 wires run up front for the depth finder power source. He did show me the wires on a Nitro. Let us know if you find anything because I will need to install a second Lorance up front.

When the Power Pros installed my BSX unit they spliced into the trolling motor wiring.

 

Needless to say it was a problem until I took the boat to another repair shop and asked them why I was blowing so many trolling motor fuses.

 

Upgraded trolling motor fuse to a 10 and so far no problems with either unit.

 

I would suggest as Martintheduck suggested that you run the line to one of the available fuse stations so the unit is on its own.

Do you have a power, or accessory switch on your switch panel?  There is one on my Nitro.  It provides power for the electronics.  It may also provide power to the lights, but I'm not sure.  The trolling motor has its own separate, dedicated circuit, hooked directly to the batteries, which provide power for only the trolling motor.

 

If you have a switch like that there may also be a buss bar for wiring in accessories.  You can hook up to that, though you may have to put a fusible link in your wiring.  There may also be a fuse panel in the "Power" circuit.  You'll need to check underneath your console using a flashlight.  It may have some "vacant" fuse sockets.  If it does, you can wire directly to an unused circuit, and install the proper size fuse for your application.

I would also just run the wires on the starboard side where all your others run and hook directly into the fuse box as well.  That would be the simplest solution.  No real need to hook up directly to the battery that I can see.  Someone let me know if I am wrong here.

I pulled the trolling motor plug panel this afternoon and sure enough there are two wires, one black, one orange up there.

I got the Hydrowave installed, I have a bow fish finder so i guess that used my two wires up, thank you for checking though Chief 2.

 

I ended up running them back to the console with fish tape. I highly recommend a buddy to help you listen cause it took for ever to try and "get lucky" feeding that tape up to the bow, seems like i keep getting knocked off course. All i have left to do is run the speaker wire down the trolling motor, hard part is over!

**** I was going to tell you to do what my uncle does. Always run an extra wire. Down the road you can use that wire to pull new wire if you want to add something else.
