Rage Tail Anoconda Vs Recon

I prefer the anaconda. The recon IMHO is less durable than a senko. The recon is the only Rage Tail product I'll never buy again.

My favorite Rage Tail worm is the thumper. Give them a try.

The recon is my favorite. They aren't very durable but if you shop around DSG this time of year, i usually find them on sale for 1.5-2$ per pack.

I have a bps gift card and I'm looking to pick up some soft plastics that I haven't tried before and give them a go next season.

I haven't had a chance to fish the Anaconda yet but I can tell you the Recon has been an excellent producer for me. I posted up the same question back in July. Here is the link if you're interested.

Yeah I saw that before I posted but it didn't really seem to answer the question.

What about the recon do you like more then the anaconda?

Unfortunately I haven't gotten the Anaconda in the water yet. In the package, the Anaconda definitely seems more durable. Like others have mentioned the Recon does not hold up well to multiple fish, but it does catch them. I also feel like the softer body of the Recon may cause fish to hold on to the worm a bit longer than others that I have thrown before (again, no comparison to the Anaconda). There have been a couple times when I've been picking out a backlash and not realize a fish was on the end of the line, but stayed there until I reeled in the slack and was able to feel them.

Maybe give it another shot. Stike King messed up the plastic formula on the first batch.

Messed up is putting it lightly. The first recon I threw tore at the point in the body that the hook was brought back through during the cast. I'd say about half of the pack did this.

I appreciate you pointing out the production issue, but I really have no interest in trying them again.

Don't worry though. At my last count I had upwards of 50 packs of various Rage Tail products. They are firmly entrenched as one of my top brands.

I had the same issue, the baits were unfishable. I called Big O to tell him "Houston, we have a problem".

He was already on top of it and pretty ticked! Apparently the formula was tweaked without his knowledge

or approval.

What about the recon do you like more then the anaconda?

I would say I like one more than the other because I kinda put the in different classes. The Anaconda the 10" I Carolina rig and Texas rig on deep points and off shore humps. Same thing with a thumper. The recon I have been experimenting with it as trailers on chatterbaits swim jigs, but mainly I have been fishing it around docks and in grass like a weedless spinnerbait. Couldn't pick one over the other.

The Annie is more of an eel type bait.  It swims a little better than the Recon.  I like it Rage rigged or as different look to creatures when punching heavy weeds.  The Recon is more your traditional Texas rig worm - light, sliding bullet weight, hop it through weeds, dead stick it.  The ringworm style has a big profile, but allows you use a standard worm hook.  I'd say I use the Recon more often than the Anaconda, but that's just because of where I like to fish.
