Comfortably Numb Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 This guy is about 4" long. Someone hand painted the black on the bottom, I assume for night fishing. I am also not sure if it originally was a prop bait and maybe a spook style walker. Unique thing is that it seems to have a one knocker inside that is suspended by a spring or wire. It has a ifferent sound and vibration. Thanks... Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 26, 2013 Super User Posted December 26, 2013 Can't be certain, however that one just may be from a little known company called Studmuffin Baits I think it's called ~ The Gurgulator. A-Jay Sorry. Quote
doyle8218 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Seems more like a spy bait - I never saw a topwater with props Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 Seems more like a spy bait - I never saw a topwater with props Devil's Horse, Woodchopper, Torpedo just to name a few popular ones. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted December 27, 2013 Super User Posted December 27, 2013 Seems more like a spy bait - I never saw a topwater with props You know what a spy bait is but haven't ever seen a prop bait, that's funny. Heddon makes a bait called the "Wounded Spook" that is like a regular Spook with props. I doubt that's what it is but that's what it looks like. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted December 27, 2013 Super User Posted December 27, 2013 Looks like a devils horse Quote
rboat Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 That frog pattern sure looks like a Manns paint job. Kinda like the Manns top dancer, however I do not recall one with props? Possibly a knock-off by some other Co. Quote
Chris186 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 It definitely looks like some kind of spook to me. Maybe an older version of the one knocker, and someone added the props? The props on the wounded spook are longer and pointer, plus the wounded spook doesnt have a knocker in it. That would be my guess anyway. Quote

Id preserve it or go to an antique fishing place to find out what lure it is. You could also get antique lure books as well. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted December 30, 2013 Super User Posted December 30, 2013 Reminds me of the old 'Heddon Injured Minnow', but I doubt it is. The wavy black belly-line smacks of a homemade paint job. Roger Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted December 30, 2013 Super User Posted December 30, 2013 Looks similar to a Cotton Cordell Boy Howdy, but I think the blades and body shape are slightly different. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks all. As I said in original post (I think) the bottom black paint is definitely added by someone. I alsostated that i think it may not originally came with props. Paint looks just like a Mann's Dancer (thanks rboat) but it definitely does not and did not have that top fin. And also the one knocker is not loose inside but suspended by a wire or spring. Maybe it is just a knockoff. I believe its from the 80's Quote
papajoe222 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 There was a company that produced three different top water baits back in the late 70's. A chugger, a walker, and a double prop. They all had an internal bearing and spring contraption that would make the bait quiver after you moved it. It was a unique gimmick and likely caught more fishermen than fish, but I still have and use one of the chuggers. Quote
The Young Gun Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I don't know what it is, but I'd definitely throw it!!! Looks sweet! Quote
