Paul Peixoto Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 A few gift cards for Christmas. New ci4 or core51 and why? Most likely throwing weightless senkos, possibly used as an all around reel? Input will be greatly appreciated Quote
bootytrain Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Tough choice... I'd say go to a bps and handle them both and see which feels better for you. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted December 26, 2013 Super User Posted December 26, 2013 Both are great reels for senkos and general use. There are more gear ratios in the CI4 line vs the core 50mg. The core is lighter in weight thanks to the magnesium frame. They look very similar from a color scheme standpoint. Either would work for your situation but I would probably snag the CI4 and save a few dollars to put towards other gear. Quote
thehooligan Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Cant go wrong with either one. I prefer smaller profiles and lighter weight so the core is the winner in my book... Quote
Paul Peixoto Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 thanks it will be might first shimano so i just wanna make sure i like it a lot Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 26, 2013 Super User Posted December 26, 2013 If buying new get the ci4+, used then get a core for around the same price as the ci4+ One of the best features the + has is the option of the high gear model which I'm a huge fan of Quote

dam0007 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Don't have neither but do have the non ci4 Chronarch. Casts light stuff great. Quote
TNBassin' Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Love my 2 Chronarchs. So much so I decided to skip the Ci4+. Quote
Paul Peixoto Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 What reels do you use now?I use a smoke, lews tour pro, and a revo s gen 2 I went to dicks sporting goods (near me) really disappointed on there in store selection. Wanted to handle the core and ci4 and you guessed it they don't carry those in store Period. The have the caenan and curado. And that's it. Super disappointed call the other 2 near me as well with the same result. Can't wait until bps come to jersey- hopefully by the end of this year. To make things worse I went online and they have only right handed models available Quote

Super disappointed call the other 2 near me as well with the same result. Can't wait until bps come to jersey- hopefully by the end of this year. To make things worse I went online and they have only right handed models available The reason I ask is that you will appreciate higher end reels a lot more if you've fished with lower priced ones. I haven't used any of the reels you have but I went from a Citica E and 2nd Gen Revo SX to a Core 50 and from the first cast I said *@#^$%! The core 50 was so smooth and effortless and a lot quieter too. My metanium is a lot noisier than my Core 50 during casting and the Chronarch CI4 has basically the same casting system as the Metanium if that's a factor for you. If you are open to it TW has a reel demo program you might want to check out. Quote
Paul Peixoto Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 i did check out tw but they dont demo out the ci4 just yet which sucks .. thanks for your help everyone i might sit on it and wait Quote
