I got a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver...now I can't wait till spring to mount it to my boat and go fishing.  I have been sledding with the kids and letting them get video of themselves and MAN does it take some great quality video. They love it!

Although, I quickly found out Youtube doesn't like it when you put music to your videos from Itunes.   :Idontknow:

financial wizard. like tw cares. you are spending money with them. what's your total savings. I'm poor in math.

It's really quite simple.  For 270 dollars, I get 300 dollars worth of merchandise.  Whether or not they "care" is totally immaterial.

300 - 270 = 30 dollars in savings.

I'm saying they don't care. If it takes a discount for you to buy product then they'll do it.

and with 20% sale you'll end up saving roughly 90 bucks not 30.

I got one of these red and white things called a bobber or something! I haven't used one yet but have seen a lot in the trees at the lakes I fish at! I'm not positive but I think you throw it in a tree and let your lure enter the water from there for a more natural presentation. I am stoked to try this technique this year!

Not really, because I'd get the 20% off without the gift card.  It doesn't take a discount for me to buy their products.  If I need something, I'll get it whether it's a sale or regular price.  Here's the thing as far as I'm concerned.  I have a list of items I need/want for the road trip.  It includes baits, hooks, and other gear.  I'm reasonably sure they'll have a sale before the road trip, so I'll wait until they have a sale.  Maybe next month for President's Day.  I'll still get the list of items I want for the Road Trip whether they have a sale or not.  I'll wait until the middle of April.

I've done it before, and it works for me.

I was pleasantly surprised this year that my relatives actually stuck to my list for a change.  I asked for and received:

1. A 19qt ENGEL Live Bait Cooler.

2. An EGO Lip Gripper

3. One each of the 3741 and 3641 model new Guide Series Plano Tackle trays

4. Two $25 BPS gift cards

5. A pack of Tactical Angler Clips

6. Sock liners (for cold water layering)

7. A $50 REI gift card

8. A pair of Boomerang SNIPS

9. A little extra cash

I used the extra cash and the BPS GCs and snagged a sweet deal on some new SIMMS Drfit breathable chest waders w/ 3.5mm neoprene booties.  They were marked down from $179 to $99.  Ended up not spending a dime out of pocket - SCORE!!!

Actually my savings with a 20% discount, and using my 10% off card saves me precisely 28% not 30%.  The math works like this.

With a 20% discount I'll be paying 80% of regular retail.  I then get 10% savings on that 80% which equals 8% of the retail cost for a total savings of 28%.  If you want to do it the other way, taking the 10% savings first, I'll get a 20% discount on the remaining 90% which equals 18%.  10% plus 18% equals 28%.

Not bad, spend about $400 retail for products and only spend 300.

I'll have to keep my eye open for deals on their gift cards.

I have so much fishing stuff already, I asked for gift cards. So when something new comes out this year I can use those cards that I have stored away. To me, its like money in the bank. But these the wife can't touch. Lol

It's easy to see with numbers.  A store has a half price sale.  A ten dollar item sells for five dollars.  You get to the store and see a sign, take another fifty percent off at the register.  You don't get it free because of the two fifty percent discounts.  You get half of the five dollars off, and pay 2.50 for it, netting you a 75% discount from the original price.

Math was my best subject in school.  It just came easy to me.  In fact my 9th grade algebra teacher gave me an A-3 on my report card.  The A was my grade, and the number represented the effort you put into that class, 1 being the highest and 3 being the lowest.  I asked her how she could give me a 3 when I got an A in the subject.  She told me it was because I didn't try hard.  She could not explain what more I could have done.
