Smokinal Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 These are our birches covered in ice. We just went through 3 days of freezing rain, power outages etc... All ok now though. It's surprising how these trees don't break and will take their natural shape one the ice melts. 1 Quote

We had that last year on a clump of birch trees. They were bent to the ground. One of them didn't straighten up, but I can walk under the top of the tree. It did recover some during the summer. Maybe next summer will take more of the bend out of it. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 24, 2013 Super User Posted December 24, 2013 We got clobbered with rain in Richmond, Virginia. I had over 2.5 inches at my house and still have water standing in my back yard. It it was snow or ice we would have been a disaster. Quote
nick76 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 We got the snow the weekend before, about 10 inches of it. Then this past weekend we got the rain and ice. Once the ice ended we lost power and it has been off since Saturday. Now the temps are plummeting to top it off. Looks like 8°F here right now and the wind and snow are supposed to move in around 5am. Estimated restoration time of Sunday for our power. All in all, we are safe....the generator is keeping is warm.....and we are spending some quality family time together. God is good. Quote
