Braid Color?

I just bought my first baitcaster and am looking to buy some braided line. Any favorite braid suggestions?  But my real question is how much does braid color matter?

I like Sufix 832 in green.  I use 50lb test on baitcasters, I fish a lot of heavier cover and grass and I like the way it handles better than the thinner braids.  I wouldn't go any lighter than 30 on a baitcaster.  I don't worry about the color of braid, the water I fish isn't clear.

I use Hi-Vis Yellow. The line color matters to me because I watch line and I want it to be as easily visible as possible. I run sharpie for the first one rod length thou, just in case.

I agree with this. Sufix 832 has proven to me to be the best I've used. Among Sufix 832, Power Pro, and Spiderwire, the Sufix 832 has been very good, and the best I've used. Great line. As in all braids I've used, the end of them typically start to fade, the color washes out, so like someone stated above I usually sharpie the last rod length on mine too.

832 camo for froggin. 832 low vis green on my spinning reels and moving bait setups. This year on my pitching and punch gear I'm trying hivis pp in yellow.

I like 832 the best but PP works great too and considerably cheaper.

I'll use any color of Powerpro, slick or regular.  Although for heavier line (50lb plus) I think I'll avoid the slick in the future and try more of the 832.  Color to me isn't overly important, and as others have said, I use whatever works well for line watching.

I like white, easy for line watching. I also use a green/brown marker for the last few feet. But I think that's more for me than the fish. I don't think they care.

I use 20# PowerPro, hi-vis yellow.

 

I do not recommend the red line, though, at least back when I tried it, my bait caster became red with all the color bleed. May not be an issue with newer line (i say this only if you are interested in red)....

 

Color is most important to me for visibility. Green is just too hard for me to keep track of. But I mostly do soft plastics (TX, wacky, mojo), sometimes jigs. I want to see the line for any jumps and twitches.

 

I also use a leader 100% of the time. I do this primarily to not use up the expensive braid with tying and retying of hooks all day fishing. I maybe retie the leader once while fishing, assuming I've whittled it down, or lost it to a snag.

I would go with 50lb suffix performance braid if you'll be using this line for any topwater techniques, if not i'd go with white 50lb 832.  Braid color does not matter, although everyone on this board will tell you it does.

Hi-vis for jigs/plastics make line watching easier for me with no ill affects noticed.

Tuf Line makes braid similar to power pro and is cheaper.

 

I haven't tried the high vis stuff. I usually throw braid on my frog rod so I'm not line watching so much.
