Super User BassinLou Posted December 23, 2013 Super User Posted December 23, 2013 Earlier this year someone from BR, asked what everyone's 2013 fishing resolutions were going to be. Mine was catching a 8lb + bass. I fell short of that goal by a 1lb. I caught two, 7+lb bass. I will shoot for that goal again in 2014. What about you guys and gals, did you meet your fishing resolutions? Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted December 23, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 23, 2013 Ooops!! Tomustang came up with a similar thread already. Sorry. 1 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted December 24, 2013 Super User Posted December 24, 2013 Geez, isn't two 7s worth at least one 8? In any case, your goal for 2014 looks like a shoe-in. My only resolution has been: 'No More Resolutions' So far, so good Roger Quote
BassAssassin726 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I accomplished my goal of a five pounder twice. First was a 5.2 second was a 5.9. I knew there was five pounders swimming in my two quarry lakes. I had been catching a lot of 3-4 pounders and this year i told myself I'd focus and catch that five. Had a great year over all. My phone is filled with tons of pics of 3-5 pounders just this year. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted December 25, 2013 Super User Posted December 25, 2013 I didn't really set out with any fishing resolutions for 2013, but I guess I unconsciously must have set some because I fished more, picked up baitcasting, and decided to learn worms/plastics, something I never did when a kid. Let's see if I can get through 2014 without buying a boat! Quote
SpencerLittle Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I didn't have any set goals either. I just told myself I want to have my best year yet and I definitely did. I caught more and more big fish than any year in the past. Even caught one in the 10+ range. An really learned a lot about fishing grass. If I were to set a goal for next year it would be learn more about fishing deep cranks and just deep in general. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 26, 2013 Super User Posted December 26, 2013 Well, not me. 1. Right knee kept getting worse and worse causing me to get it replaced in October and missing out on five club tournaments. 2. Wanted to finish in club's top ten but by missing half of the tournaments finished 14 out of 26. 3. Only caught five of the big ladies (over five pounds each) in my double secret pond this year. Usually catch 20 a year. 4. Never had the chance to master the Jika rig but will work on it in 2014. 5. Broke old graphite rod I got at a garage sale and had friend put it back together for me. At least I can still use it for crankbaits. 6. Nothing on topwaters this year. RICOs, frogs, poppers and buzzbaits were ignored by the bass. 7. Prefished the Potomac and nailed a bunch of beauties over 3-pounds each. Day of tournament a cold front moved through and me and my partner did awful. So to say the least I am looking forward to 2014 and getting this knee up to 100%. Quote
nascar2428 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Lost total patience in trying to learn drop shotting, jigs and crankbaits. Sucessfully became addicted to weightless t-rigged senko's and knockoffs in July. Senkos became my bait of choice with spinnerbaits second. Not sure if I can commit to any new techniques for 2014.I may need a senko 12 step program it's that bad. Quote
ProCrafter Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Fell short on some accomplished others... Did not catch the new PB, did not do well on new waters and did not fish Crankbaits on every outing as I had wanted.... On the accomplished side... Fished both of our Warrior Fishing events... Made several Cast for Kids events..... Did make it to the BR Roadtrip!!! Won two Club Events (One on Potholes Reservoir by 7 pounds!! one was our clubs 75th anniversary weekend Jack-N-Jill!!!) all in all a good year and already thinking of some more goals for this year! B@ssCrzy Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 My 2013 resolution was to learn to fish with a jig. I accomplished that with the swim jig and caught multiple bass on it. My largest being the fish pictured in my avatar!! Love the swim jig now and one of my go to baits. In 2014 I hope to learn how to catch fish working a jig on the bottom. Quote
