Super User RoLo Posted December 23, 2013 Super User Posted December 23, 2013 The act of imposing humility upon another person is called "humiliation". A-Jay Very True. Differently put, 'Humility' is a man's ability to hate himself. Roger 1 Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted December 24, 2013 Super User Posted December 24, 2013 I had no formal goals for this year. I did want to get the boat in the water more often (I have a boat - might as well use it) and I was successful on that. Here's 2012 vs. 2013 data - number of days I had the boat in the water and number of fish caught from the boat: Year Boat Days Boat Fish2012 41 3832013 73 1297 When I started getting big numbers of fish from the boat during the spring, I set a stretch goal to try to get 2,000 bass in 2013 (from the boat and the bank). Didn't make that. I might possibly have made it but my boat transport vehicle was down for about 5 weeks (end of October and all of November) and I couldn't get the boat in the water during that time. Score so far this year - 1,885 bass. The year isn't over yet, water is still soft (caught a bass about an hour ago), and maybe I can make it to 1,900 bass by New Years Eve........................(or not!) Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 24, 2013 Super User Posted December 24, 2013 Got back in my boat after more than a year recovering from spinal reconstruction surgery and looking forward to the 2014 season.. Tom 3 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted December 24, 2013 Super User Posted December 24, 2013 During the past couple of seasons, my wife has boated about 3 bass to my 1. This year however, and against all odds, I slashed that 3:1 ratio down to 2:1 Roger 2 Quote
ColdSVT Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I met two goals this year I finally cashed in a tourny and learned when to downsize. I also figured out a lake that has owned me for years by fishing it over and over and over again until I learned what, where and why. Ended up putting a good bit of fish in the well on a ton of different tactics and in many different conditions. Quote
Throw Back Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I achieved my goalbof getting out more often. I caught zero bass, maybe one trout. On the upside me and my two year old slayed the bluegil and sunfish. Quote
cbass12 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Broke my PB smallie twice. First in April an 18 1/2" tank that I didn't get a chance to weigh, then in July caught a 19" fish that weighed just shy of 4 pounds. Nothing compared to the fish you guys catch up north but for around here a couple of really nice fish. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 It was an amazing season. Every year I have three goals. To catch more fish, to catch more big fish and to catch the biggest bass of my life. This year I caught 1298 bass from April 12th to Nov 17th. The most I have caught in a season. Got into some really good bites on a variety of lures. I caught more bass over 7 lbs then I have ever caught in a season. The end of the year was fantastic. I caught my biggest bass a 9 lb 1 oz largemouth. For the year I finished with 4 7lbers, 3 8lbers and the 1 9 lber. All fish caught from VT and ME. The crank bait and the jig were the two most productive lures for me this year. I hope this coming year I can reach all my goals again. Still looking for a northern strain 10 lb largemouth. They do exist, I swear it. Go big or go home. Quote

Nothing compared to the fish you guys catch up north but for around here a couple of really nice fish. The bigger of those two fish. I think it was 3lbs 15ozs if I remember right? Sure looked heavier than that though. I caught 2 fish over 7 pounds in Kansas for the first time ever! Started with a 7.51 on January 10th that slammed a SK series 5 in green gizzard shad color. Then on March 7th I caught a 7.76lb tank on a chart/black Spro Fat John from the same lake. Just a couple ounces short of my best fish from KS. I also bested my PB rainbow trout with a 6.5lb fish on a little cleo on the 21st of March. Caught a new PB brown trout on a Lucky Craft Spazz jerkbait that went 5.5 pounds. A few days later I caught my first ever striper then the next day caught a new PB that went 20.01 pounds on an A-rig. About the only bass fishing goal I set out to accomplish was to catch a bass in Kansas on an 8" Hudd, check 1 Quote

VABassin'14 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Achieved a new PB this season. Absolutely great moment that I will never forget. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 25, 2013 Super User Posted December 25, 2013 I was also able to get a good friend completely sucked into bass fishing this year. I took him once and he managed a good 3lbr on a closed face combo. I've never seen him so thrilled. From that day on he's done nothing but try to learn as much as he can about fishing. His wife constantly reminds me that's it my fault that he's spending money on gear. I simply remind her at least he's not as bad as I am so she shouldn't be mad lol. He just had a baby boy the other day and I know that he will pass fishing onto his son and that is because of me. It's a good feeling. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 New PBs LM and SM, but my proudest achievement this year... http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/sports/highschoolsports/1018862-457/milford-junior-helps-launch-nhiaa-bass-fishing.html 1 Quote
basshole8190 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I caught fish on a jigging spoon a feat i never thought id accomplish. can't say I'm dissapointed in the quality of the fish either Quote
martintheduck Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 A few things... Bought my first REAL tourny boat... runs like a dream... best money I have ever spent on anything, period. Have learned all about boating, maintenance, safety, and had a ton of fun. Became pretty confident using my electronics. Marked fish, tossed out a bait, and caught the fish I marked. Became efficient at dropshotting FINALLY forced myself to learn deep diving crankbaits.... they quickly became my favorite presentation this year Nabbed my personal best fish - 6lb'er on a shakey head My goals this year are.... Become confident with hard jerkbaits Go fish some new lakes and get on the fish Use search baits, find fish, then use slower presentations. Quote
