LearningToFishIHope Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Bought my first boat (17 Triton aluminum). The trailer has rubber plugs covering the wheel bearings that have to be removed to get to the grease fitting in the very center of the hub.. I punched a hole in one removing it..Should those be put back each time you grease the bearings or should they be removed and thrown away..Do I need to replace the damaged one? Thanks Quote
Super User slonezp Posted December 22, 2013 Super User Posted December 22, 2013 It's to keep dirt and debris out. Replace it Quote
cadman Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Those are covers to keep the grease from spraying all over your trailer and keep all the dirt from going onto the grease. I believe those are all bearing buddy covers, as I had them on my Tracker boat. Yes replace them and put them back on, they are supposed to be on the bearing hub. Quote
LearningToFishIHope Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Great! thanks guys Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 22, 2013 Super User Posted December 22, 2013 I ripped one a few years ago on my Tracker trailer, and called the dealer to order a new one, and they sent me pair of them....FREE. Call your Triton dealer, I'm sure they will take care of you. Quote

Super User Fishes in trees Posted December 23, 2013 Super User Posted December 23, 2013 There are different sizes of bearing covers, be sure to order the right size. They weren't standard on new 2002 Lowe trailers, I had to buy my own. It is possible to buy the wrong size. Quote
