Surveyor Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Siebert Storm series Swim jig OOMOD w/rage tail ochechobee craw Flippin jig w/ rage tail Falcon Lake craw or netbait baby bama craw. I like OOMODS head to flip-pitch if cover is not to thick. Really like this head for swimming, you have to swim it a bit sometimes in thin cover. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted December 22, 2013 Super User Posted December 22, 2013 I make my own skirts and attach them to Cadman jigheads with Owner and Gamakatsu hooks. Best jigs I've ever used, see no reason to ever buy commercial jigs again. I use trailers from many makers depending on what I'm trying to accomplish. Quote
pbizzle Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I love to fish a 1/4oz strike king black/blue bleeding bait bitsy bug jig with a black and blue yum crawbug. Kills the spots on Nickajack. Quote

Super User WRB Posted December 22, 2013 Super User Posted December 22, 2013 Google Terry Oldham's Jigs! In my opinion a jig is only as good as the hook, head design, & weed guard. The 5/0 Sawish Salmon Hook is the absolute strongest hook on any jig made by anybody. The head is designed to penetrate the thickest cover & come out cleanly The weed guard is as good as any Skirts, I don't concern myself with cause I'll change em regardless of whose jig I use. Good looking heavy cover jig at a reasonable price. Heavy, starting at 3/4 oz, 1 oz and 1 1/4 oz, what you need for cover. Thank you for info.Tom Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 22, 2013 Global Moderator Posted December 22, 2013 My favorites are either a homemade 1/2oz brush jig or homemade 5/16oz finesse jig, both tipped with Paca chunks. Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 23, 2013 Super User Posted December 23, 2013 I rarely fish a jig with a traditional weed guard or anyone's jig other than my own design 7/16 oz with 5/0 Gamakatsu # 5/0 forged light wire hook. The reason is the deep structured lakes with rocky structure and sparse wood or weed cover requires this type of jig to get strikes. The average size of the jig fish I catch in the lakes where I fish are big. I also use pork rind trailers in black, purple, barn red and brown with bucktail hair colored a combination of those colors. The Nu-Tech football jig and Wadda jig are my choices for heavy cover.
