Maybe this is a question that's come up before, but I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for.

I have a new Curado 201G7 series baitcaster, and I'd like to upgrade the drag star on it from the plastic one to a better one, whether that be aluminum, carbon, whatever.

First off, I see one on eBay, but the thing is around $60! I only paid $120 for this reel, I hardly think I'm going to pay half the price of this reel for an anodized srag star. Is there one cheaper?

Secondly, will the drag star from another Shimano model fit the Curado? That'd probably be the easiest way to go if it's possible, and probably cheaper than aftermarket prices.

Any help on the subject would be great.

Thanks guys

I swore someone was saying the e's star fits but I can't find the post. Also I would check directly with Shimano, JFrancho has posted the number before.

You can order parts directly from Shimano.  You'll need the Curado E drag star, as well as part #2121 and #2120 (drag click plate and retainer spring).  Total cost including shipping will be something like $25.  The click plate from the Curado G won't work, though you can reuse the click pin and click pin spring.

Just a suggestion, but the Core 100MG7 dark gunmetal drag star is only $1 more than the silver drag star from the Curado E, and it would match the Curado G's spool-tension knob.  The two stars are the same size and shape, just different colors to match the different reels.

I put a Core drag star on one of my Shimanos:

That is a great looking Curado. I might just do that. Thanks so much! Which Core model has the star I need? Any of them?

Actually it started as a Citica, though it's impossible to tell that now. :D

You'll need the drag star from either a Core 101MG or 51MG. The 51MG has a differently styled drag star with straight tines rather than raked forward, and it's also slightly more expensive. I believe the 51's drag star fits either RH or LH reels, but if you go with the 100-size drag star, make sure you get it for the LH reel (Core 101MG).

Yea I think I like the swept handle.

Do I order 2120 and 2121 for the Core as well or order the Curado E versions?

If I've not mentioned it, thanks so much for the help thus far. :)
