Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 19, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted December 19, 2013 Thanks for the kind words everyone. Thought I'd add an update, Momma had a fever through labor and baby had one when he was born so they took him to the NICU for a 48 hour observation period. He's had a high temperature, low blood sugar, trouble maintaning his body temp, jaundice, and he's been dehydrated. He started with an IV in his hand but he knocked that out so now it's in the side of his head. Since he had the IV he had no need to eat so they've started him on a feeding tube to try to take away the need for the IV and make his intestines work to digest food and get his liver working to help with his jaundice. Now after 72 hours, he's looking much better, eating a little bit more each time on his own but still getting most through his feeding tube. We still are only allowed to hold him during feeding times and only our parents are allowed to come see him but not hold him, so we have lots of anxious family waiting to meet him for the first time. I got to hold him for about an hour last night and he was very content and smiled several times so it really seems like he's getting better, just trying to stay positive and hope we'll be able to take him home before Christmas Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 22, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted December 22, 2013 Congrats, I hope you have his rod and reel ready to go. He'll be using it in no time. I'm actually in a big bass contest on another forum and if I hold onto my current second place spot I'll win a custom built rod. Thinking about having one built for him so I can give it to him for a birthday present somewhere down the road. If everything goes well it sounds like we'll be taking him home on Chirstmas Eve, couldn't ask for a better present. 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted December 28, 2013 Super User Posted December 28, 2013 Congrats. Have a fun time teaching him about fishing. I showed my one and a half year old granddaughter a Senko and Baby Brush Hog yesterday. She held them in her hands and just stared at them. Next visit tomorrow and I will show her the rod and reel I bought for her when she was born and the one I have for her three-year old brother. So don't wait. Hit the sales now and start getting ready to take Lake fishing as soon as he can swim. You have to start them out earyl. 1 Quote
