thehooligan Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Cardiff 50DC! Don't forget that one Thats a sweet reel. I cant even imagine going to japan, id have all four credit cards maxed out after a few tackle stores Add one more vote for the conquest 50. I still cant believe i let my conquest 51 go, such an awesome reel... Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted December 18, 2013 Super User Posted December 18, 2013 I'm still torn in between the non-DC and DC version of the Conquest though. It seems that fishermen are half and half on whether they like the DC system or not. I'm almost tempted to pick up both versions.... If you get both and like one better than the other.... I might be in the market for a 50 Conquest at a good Japan price. Just sayin! Jeff Quote

You don't even know the temptation I have to just buy everything....I figure anything I don't like, I'd be able to sell pretty easily Thanks for the input guys, I'm making my final list of things to buy and when I come back from Japan, I'll be posting pictures Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 19, 2013 Super User Posted December 19, 2013 I'll be on the lookout for lefty models that might be good collector's items Any recommendations? I'm still torn in between the non-DC and DC version of the Conquest though. It seems that fishermen are half and half on whether they like the DC system or not. I'm almost tempted to pick up both versions.... On the other hand, the Daiwa Zillion HLC...If I run across one, then I'll be sure to pick it up. I'm fearful of walking into these tackle shops now....So tantalizing to just buy 10+ reels. I'll be doing some more research as time gets closer, but if anyone else has additional resources or input, it is much appreciated. Daiwa TD-Ito Mirror. Really, any high end Shimano lefty will be cool. The Zillion HLC is probably your best bet as far as a daily driver. Quote
MichiganFishing1997 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Don't forget to make yourself a small budget for customizing your new toys! Maybe even save a little for some JDM baits. Have fun and good luck with your search! Quote
DelcoSol Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Could I PayPal you some money to bring me back something? lol Quote
fishingman88 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Okay, so I still have 2 weeks until Japan....but I stumbled across a nice JDM while I'm here in Korea for a bit.... I'm torn in between whether I should buy the reel, the only problem is that I feel the prices might be a little higher than what I could find them for in Japan? I could be wrong about that, but I would hate to buy the reels in Korea and end up finding them cheaper in Japan. So here's the reel I found and the price...seeking advice on whether I should it up: 1) Daiwa Zillion HLC (Righty) - Owner wanted $492 for NIB - Seemed like a fair price, but I feel like I might be able to find one in Japan for cheaper (even though they are discontinued?) Also stumbled across some Alpha Type-Fs and a lot of Steez models, but nothing else too special. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted January 1, 2014 Super User Posted January 1, 2014 Barter with the Korean's tell him it's too much, he will not take any offence to it, heck they never pay sticker price for anything, even in the grocery store. Quote
Trey Harpel Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I can buy a LEFTY HLC for 295$ shipped right now.. 500$ is a bit steep even for a NIB.. Quote
fishingman88 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 I saw BNIB HLC's go for $400 on eBay in October, but haven't seen any other ones pop up since. I tried bargaining with the store owner, but he wouldn't go down on the price at all. I even offered cash payment, no luck. Trey, I'm assuming you're referencing a used Lefty HLC? I'm basically at that point where I figure I might as well just get a used one. I've seen righty's run for a little under $300 for used. Quote
Trey Harpel Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Yup Used Lefty... For me I could care less if its NIB as I use my reels.. Quote

fishingman88 Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 Zillion HLC on Rakuten for $414 Thanks for the heads up. I thought they were sold out on Rakuten when I last checked, but I re-checked after your suggestion and saw they were there. Looks like I'm passing on the HLC I saw in Korea. Couple more weeks until I'm in paradise... Quote
