I hope no one takes this post as a political statement, it's not; it's just a remembrance of a very sad day for our country.

One year ago tomorrow, on December 14th, we lost 26 fellow Americans to violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. We lost 20 innocent young children, and six dedicated school workers.

To mark the anniversary of that senseless tragedy, Please honor those lost at Sandy Hook with a moment of silence tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Or, the 3,000 teenagers who die yearly because of texting while driving.  What a waste.

Why can't they come up with a car feature that will kill a cell phone signal when the car is in motion?

Just the other day I was behind a older man driving and talking; while doing so, he drove onto the shoulder on the left and crossed half of his car into the next lane on the right.  Other cars held back to avoid him.  He only gave up his phone when several cars continuously blew their horns at him.

The only way to rid the world of senseless violence is to rid the world of senseless people.

The senseless people seem to do a pretty good job of getting rid of themselves. If only we could help them along some.

There is a simple solution.  Almost all, maybe all cell phones are GPS enabled.  They can track or find any cell phone in the world because they all transmit a signal that tells where they are.  Cell phones automatically adjust the time when you cross into a different time zone.  All you need is for the phone to know how fast it's moving over the ground.  When it is moving faster than, say three mph, the texting feature would be disabled.  Period.  End of story.

Navigation systems are like that.  The ones we've had in our vehicles will not allow you to perform certain functions when the car is moving faster than a couple of miles per hour.  You can still perform certain functions, and select from stored addresses, but you cannot enter a new address via the touch screen when you are moving.

So what happens when your a passenger you can't use your phone? Or when like me now am on a bus coming back from FT Drum.

Let's talk about disabling the GPS.  No problem.  If the GPS is tampered with, the texting feature is automatically disabled.

But, how can we disable the GPS?  There are jammers, but they are illegal.  Remove the GPS antenna?  The problem is, you are not tracked via GPS.  Cell phones are tracked via triangulation from cell towers.

I did a search, and there appears to be a lot of confusion regarding disabling the GPS and/or the tracking electronics.  Some say yes.  Others say no.  Just a thought.

Yes, there are plenty of "what-ifs" out there....

I was thinking of a loop antenna in the ceiling of vehicles, over the driver, that emits a low power dampening field for cell signals.

I have no issue with the process of natural selection, except when that process includes collateral damage to innocent people.

Boy, am I glad I'm no longer a traveler from what I read on the news about cell phone use on planes; I would go nuts setting next to someone on a plane who was chatting on a cell phone for long periods. :(

I rember seeing this on the news and becoming enraged! That has to be one of if not the worst shooting in US history! The fact that every parents nightmare is losing a child these kids were the definition of innocent and haven't even lived their lives yet. I had a 6 month old at the time and I can admit that I did she'd a few tears when hearing all these reports because I could not imagine how I would feel if I were in those parents shoes. ABSOLUTLY disgusting what some people are capable of doing, and it's really sad when you think about what has transpired over the years humans have been in existence.

If there is truly a heaven and hell they are looking down on us shaking their heads and looking up at us clapping their hands
