ghost Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Are the treble hooks on the Magic Swimmer 125 (5"), are they size 4? Do you guys keep the stock trebles or do you go a size up, like size 2? Quote
Super User Micro Posted October 17, 2010 Super User Posted October 17, 2010 I keep the stock hooks. They've always been perfectly adequate. Quote
philsoreel Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Depends on the lure. The Sebile has really good hooks on it. Cheaper lures, cheaper hooks. Quote
philsoreel Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Sorry, I somehow missed the part about hook size...going up can have negative effects to the action of the lure, mainly because of extra weight. Gamakatsu offers a short shank "magic eye" treble hook that you can go up a size with on some lures. The short shank not only keeps the weight down but keeps the larger hooks from being able to reach each other and hanging up, getting it's legs crossed. The "magic eye" part wellllll....split rings and treble hooks are a pain. They are a little easier to deal with but by no means a resolution to the problem. Quote

MS 125mm Stock hooks are #4. I go size up to #2 when I need to tame down the tail action a bit and wanted to make it sink a tad faster. Quote
