Bass Dude Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Like a couple of the other posts....I don't think it "attracts" them, but I feel the fish do hold onto the bait longer. I don't use it all the time, but if I do, I use Smelly Jelly. That last line almost sounds like the Dos Equis commercial ;D ;D Quote
Blue Streak Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I have used scents on and off over the years, when a new one comes out I try it. But over the years, day in and day out it has not made a bit of difference to me. I don't waste fishing time to smear it on a lure. Others will swear they lmprove their catch. Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Dozer and I are going small mouth fishing during Thanksgiving again this year. Its like Inspector Clouseau and Cato. I attack him every chance I get LOL. Ok back to the post-GUYS ya gotta remember that the baits are being worked at a pretty good pace-weather hopping, dragging etc. It takes a while for the bait to dissipate the aminos (depends on water temp) to saturate the area . It just doesn't work like a profuse bleeding of a scent or flavor. Believe me I have seen it where if you leave it in front of the bass, they will get the scent and eat the bait.Cmon how long does cast stay in one particular spot. Just do the test i have been saying for years. bend the hook so you cant hook the fish. You will feel the bass hit the bait start reeling and see how long he holds on to it. .getting the bass to hold the bait longer is better than attracting it to the bait by smell alone . Most strike come from a reaction standpoint . Quote
TrippyJai Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I don't use Megastrike as a scent at all. It's more of a lube to help a bait slide through grass and slop easier. It does seem to help fish hold on longer in certain situations. JJ's Magic on the other hand is definitely a scent. A very strong scent. Neither one of them are a magic fish catcher, but in certain situations they do help. Lure presentation is far more important. Yep. I only carry Megastrike in my tackle box and to be honestly, I can't tell if it makes a difference or not. Maybe it makes fish hold on longer. I only apply the scent when I need lube to get through cover better. I will sometimes apply it when fishing is slow just to boost confidences. As well as to mask unwanted odour from something I touched, but that rarely ever happens. Quote
