airborne_angler Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Has anyone seen this tip? I had an image of it on my phone, but seemed to have lost it. Basically when rigging a T Rigged Tube, a barrel swivel is used to secure the tube to the hook so it won't slide on the hook. Anyone seen this...I'm trying to remember how its rigged and can't remember...help would be appreciated. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 12, 2013 Super User Posted December 12, 2013 I know exactly what your talking about, but for the life of me I can't explain it. One of my tournament partners does this with baits that are prone to slide down the shank of the hook, and it works well for him, and he catches plenty of fish. It dosen't have to be a tube either, it will work with any t-rigged plastic bait. Quote
Zach P Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 I experience the issue of sliding tubes when texas rigged all the time so I would love to see a picture or assortment of pictures regarding this. It's a very interesting tackle topic Quote
doyle8218 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 There are better ways to secure a bait, but I think you are talking about this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/872957-Improved-Texas-Rig-for-you-bass-fisherman 2 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 12, 2013 Super User Posted December 12, 2013 I just use kvd mustad grip pin hooks. Bait stays put. Quote

Rippin, that hook or even better the Gammy Skip Gap hook works well too. It has the shelf the hook that holds it in place very well. Quote
doyle8218 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 This is also the same idea, you can also use a paperclip if you like that idea. I don't. http://www.hitchseries.com/ Quote

It's a thinner wire hook so I alternate depending on the bait. I just found a whole mess of them I'd put in a bps worm binder years ago while moving to my new place. It's the little things in life haha Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 13, 2013 Super User Posted December 13, 2013 I've used the swivel to secure, don't anymore. I just use a standard worm hook for my weedless flukes, don't fish with worms. I put a little hump in the flukes back, bait seems to swim more to my liking that way, doesn't turn over as much. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted December 14, 2013 Super User Posted December 14, 2013 I think this is what you are referring to. Looks the same as a previous post. http://bassfishingdem.blogspot.com/2009/05/keep-plastics-securely-in-position.html I don't bother with this personally. If I am concerned about the slide I use a hook which minimizes that. Personally I am big fan of the Gamakatsu Skip Gap hook. 1 Quote
airborne_angler Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Doyle8218 & Felix77, those links are EXACTLYwhat I was talking about. Thanks to you both! Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted December 14, 2013 Super User Posted December 14, 2013 I remember reading about this rig 2 or 3 years ago and I've been rigging my tubes like this ever since. I know I posted this before but couldn't find the thread but here's a rig I used: Quote

airborne_angler Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 I've figured with a bead behind the bullet wieght it will create a bunch of commotion as it strikes that swivel...maybe a good thing... Quote
