One of my brothers wants one of those underspin/triggerspin rods.  He wants one to go after crappie.  I didn't even know they existed until he showed me one of his old underspin reels.

I'm not even sure what kind of rod you are suppose to use with an underspin reel.  My brother wants a long rod - something from sixteen feet to twenty feet long.

So can anybody recommend a decent rod for an underspin/triggerspin reel for crappie that is around sixteen + feet?

 Thanks!

Look at B'n'M rods or Wally Marshal rods WM rods made by Lews now.

$50-$70 range should get a nice one.

Look at the size diff from crappie rod on top reg spinning rod on bottom

I have a few tiny Zebco underspins I use for icefishing. Yeah, we ice fish up here. I love them for this application.

I'm still not sure what rod I need to look for.  Are there rods made for underspinn reels?  My brother only wants a sixteen foot one.

A typical spinning rod will do fine. It is simply a closed-face reel that rides under the rod like a spinning reel rather than on top.

So a spinning rod that feels right to him (or you), should do fine. For crappie, I'd suggest an Ultra Light, Light, or even Medium Light spinning rod in whatever length he likes.

Crappie specific rods tend to be a lot longer, but not absolutely necessary for the task at hand.

Other than tech specific trolling rods looks like the BnM Original Buck's Graphite Jig Pole is 16'

https://grizzlyjig.com/p-266-bucks-graphite-jig-pole.aspx $49.95

Here BPS but its on backorder

For the above rod the company has available replacement rod tips

underspin will work on it I use underspin with my crappie pole I pictured

The one thing is the guides are an alloy, seem they went to these so not sure about them does he use braid that the only "iffy" thing?

Thanks for the help. I ordered one of those b&m sixteen foot poles. A sixteen foot pole he wants, a sixteen foot pole he wil get. lol. He already has some giant long poles from Japan that are nice. I guess he wants a collection of long poles.
