I ordered a BPS PQ today after reading so much about it. Cannot wait to see it up close.

I actually picked one up myself. Should be here tomorrow. I got the high speed for a second froggin set up. Ive seen enough praise on this site to be confident in trying one out. If it doesn't suit me I'm sure it'll be easy to sell off here.

I frequent a few different forums and most everyone agrees that for the money the PQ is hands down the best buy.

What gear ratio did you get?

ive worked on a bunch of them and they seem like nice reels for the money..

Good luck with it as you can upgrade if needed bearings ETC...

I live in fear that BPS will change the current PQ for an updated version before I get to buy several of them. Is there a group I can join for this? LOL. Seriously, this reel is aging as far as reel designs go. An update is bound to be in the works. Wonder what the next one will be like? If the current Extreme is any indication, it won't be pretty. And remember the gold carbonlites? Those were newer than the PQ is, sold well, and are already gone.

Yeah wondering the same thing, I can see people start hording them when they get discontinued/clearance for fear that exact fear.

Well, it would be OK if they take an ounce out of the weight, and perhaps change the brake drum from brass to steel (if that would still give them enough braking) but otherwise, I hope they don't mess with it too much....

But I still have two of those, NIB, that I got at the $60 clearance price...

Mine came in today. Nice solid reel, little on the heavy side but I don't mind that so much.  It definitely needs a strip down and cleaning. I can see oil and grease all over it. That'll give me something to do during winter with the rest of the gear.

I'm just afraid they'll revamp the whole frame while trying to make it lighter and end up messing up the way it feels comfort wise, or change their centrifugal brakes to those always on kind like the current Extreme has.

As for weight, they could leave it the way it is and I'd be fine with it. I'm discovering, rather oddly, that I actually prefer the weight of a heavier reel in hand. My old Curado was 7.6 oz, and my older Extremes are 8.6 oz, a full ounce heavier, and I like the way the rod balances with them better than I did the Curado. Is that weird? All I know is it works.

Not weird at all.  People are very quick to want the lightest gear but without the appropriate rod the balance is off and that weight savings is pretty much worthless.  Balanced set ups are very important in my mind.
