Who wants to go to bacarrac? All of our water is starting to get hard. It's gonna be a longgggg winter. I'm already having panic attacks of sorts. Tried to go fishing on a really cold one at our power plant lake, and was fighting ice in my guides all day long. That wasn't fun.

Anyway, all the gear is out of the boat, and I have just a few things left to do before she goes in her winter slumber. They say it's the most wonderful time of the year. I beg to differ.

What do you guys do the num the pain? I think I will try to read bill murphy's book cover to cover, do some journaling on this years ventures, watch some youtube videos and shop some sales to keep the pain at bay. Oh, and I'll be fishing in my dreams.

And seriously, who wants to go to bacarrac?

And please, no smart@$$ comments like these

"I live in florida, and will be pulling out swamp donkeys all winter long, dur-de-dur"

You guys don't know how lucky ya got it.

Some of us less rooted individuals know how lucky we have it and feel your pain.  I remember one specific January morning taping chemical hand warmers all over the inside of my pants and shirt and using a heat gun to keep my rod clear to try to fish a warm water discharge.  Good luck.

Winter doesn't bother me.  It gives me the opportunity to get stuff done around the house and keep the missus happy.

But, I get to fish a lot between April and October.  Don't like the short days, the raw weather, and uncooperative fish.

The wife and I do a little traveling.  Visit our daughter in GA for a couple of weeks in November.  Then we have the family over for Christmas Dinner.  After that it's get more done around the house, then get ready to head to Daytona for the races.

Stop at our daughter's place in GA on the way home for a few days.  About six weeks later I'm getting ready to attend the road trip.  This year, I'm stretching it to a two week fishing fest.  The fish we be getting active in April, and should be voracious about the time I get back from 'bama..

Russell, you could always come over some time.

I could turn on the furnace in the garage so we could set in the boat watching TV and drinking Bourbon.

I don't live in a trailer park but I can b a redneck!

I've been wondering the same thing! Have any of you tried salmon/trout fishing? If so, was it a suitable substitute until the bass fishing picks back up?

I hate to rub it in, but I'm one of those guys headed to Baccarac in March. It's going to be the trip of a lifetime for me.  I am by no means a wealthy man, but I have scratched up enough money to make this my first, and last trip in the effort to complete one of the last items on my Bucket List - a DD bass.

Phishing Phreak - that is awesome!!! BEST OF LUCK!! Please share your experience with us all!

I'll bring my fishing rods. Is there enough room in there to try and flip into a bucket of water from the front deck? Probably won't be very good at getting the jig in there if we're hitting the bourban good though

No way, it ain't going to happen. Not with a Snoopy pole and three foot of line! It's a one car garage and it's shoehorned in! My shop is four times bigger but my boat won't fit through the door... (Can't win)

I barely had room to install the fish finders.

You can try but,

Well, I guess we could always tie jigs instead. HA.

It's only -5 tonite, wind chill just -17-18. The boat has been in bed for a month. 15 rods are leaning against the wall and the reels are safely residing in their winter box with drags turned off. I spent a week setting up a 2 week trip to Guntersville in March, Hired guide Troy Jens and booked a cabin. Now I don't know what to do  for the next 3 months.I am  well passed ordering tackle ( the bait monkey died when I counted 350 bags of plastics,300+ cranks and 10 lbs. of lead. I think 60 spinnerbaits is enough already. Don't you?) I don't commit ice fishing, I don't roam the halls of a new Cabellas just a few blocks away, I sit in my man cave , hang on the pukeputer and just look for anything that will get me through the next few months. However, in just a couple of weeks, the new BPS and Cabellas catalog will be showing up in the mail and I will spend way too much time ordering all the things I think I must have to catch that d**n bass. Thanks to all of you guys on BR . We may get through this .

For all you guys whining about winter....... they sell tampon's at Wal-mart. I like the change of seasons, I like ice fishing, I am pretty busy from April-Nov. with work, bass fishing, kids activities, etc....so the break is welcomed, besides it's only 4 months give or take.
