I have dabbled in the big baits off and on for a while, and I'm finally looking to pick up a dedicated setup. I already have the rod, now I'm looking for a reel. What I'm looking at is a lightly used Gen.1 Revo Winch, which I would also use to throw cranks.  I'd be keeping the lures under 2.5 oz, but I want to make sure I'm not tearing up a perfectly good cranking reel. Is that too high to go on the Winch? Thanks! -Bass Junkie

The real question is about resistance of the baits you will use. The Winch should handle most swimbaits up to that weight easily, but I wouldn't drag a 10XD with it. Maybe look at a Lexa 300 if the 10XD is on your radar. You can find them in nice used condition on the various fishing forums for $125-$140.
