Preytorien Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Hey guys I have just a quick question. When I spool my baitcaster up this spring, is there some kind of rule of thumb to follow for how much line to spool up with? I know on my spinning outfits, I try to fill er' up to about 1/8in of the lip of the spool and that works great. What about baitcasters? Thanks Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 10, 2013 Super User Posted December 10, 2013 Generally about the same, but you can put more line on if you like. I spool mine "full" which is around 10 yards below "sticky". 1 Quote
John G Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I usually put more line on than required (bad eyes) and then I end up having to strip some off because I can't pull out the spool. Quote
TrippyJai Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 As long as it's above the line guide it's good enough for me. Quote
kingkong85 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 1/8th of an inch from the lip for baitcasters as well. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted December 10, 2013 Super User Posted December 10, 2013 Under-filling a spool will lessen over-run problems... if you suffer from them. oe Quote

tholmes Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 1/8th of an inch from the lip for baitcasters as well. Yep. Much more than that ad I run into problems. Tom Quote
