yup the Pro Qualifier would be very hard to beat for under 100$. The daiwa lexa is 98$ at colgard sports (daiwa has a 25$ rebate on the lexa, too)

Me personally for square bills and shallow cranks I like a 6:x:1 For deep cranks in the 15ft + range I prefer a 5:x:1 better. Typically the reel will have a longer handle and the gear ratio will allow you to not wear your self out. For a low gear ratio cranking reel I say to get a Lews bb1. You can get them from $85-110 shipped. Better choice then the Bps Pq really. Specifically designed for cranking with the longer handle. Tons of reviews on them. Take a look.

Have to agree with the PQ...Great reel for a great price, picked up two today and for deep cranking they have it down to a 4.7:1 GR

I keep beating this dead horse, Pro Qualifier hands down. I use a 5.1 PQ on my deep cranking reel. I was on the fence if I should get a PQ or pop for an Abu Winch. I went with the PQ because our lakes are pretty shallow so I don't get to deep crank a lot. Since then I've become a much better deep crankbait fisherman and that Pro Qual has a lot to do with it. The thing launches them a mile and makes cranking even 6XD's really easy. Doesn't hurt that I boated a 7 1/2 pounder with it last January either :)

PQ is a magnificent reel even though I sold mine. Very smooth for its price. If you could bare the weight it's very nice with duel brakes and cast 1/2oz cranks very well. Although it has plenty of power with the lower gear set my only complaint would be the short handles.

The Bass Pro power handles fit them nicely so you don't have to use the short handles, well worth the $10 to upgrade the handle IMO :) They also fit the Lew's reels so I don't have to try to use those Mickey Mouse ear paddles.

Abu has a new Orra Winch reel in a 5.4:1 ratio, with a long handle. $99.  I have one, but I have not used it yet. I was on the fence with this and the BPS Pro Qual.......and I went with the Abu because it was lighter, and already had the extended handle. And I got it for $79 when TW had there 20% off black friday sale. Time will tell if I made the right choice. It's actually what some would say is a "down grade" from my former deep cranking reel........a Shimano 201DPV, but I was just getting sick of how big, heavy and bulky that reel was/is.........and I didn't feel like spending $199 for a Revo winch was very cost effective when deep cranking is a small part of my arsenal.

I have been using the BPS PQ for about a year now for cranking in the 4.7:1 ratio and I have no complaints.  It has definitely exceeded my expectations, especially for a "house" brand reel.  I would not hesitate to get another one.

Hi I'm looking to invest in a new Crankbait reel I don't mind the gear ratio as long as its under a 7.1:1 gear ratio. I don't want to spend much more than 100 dollars so if u have any suggestions plZ let me hear them and thanks

The PQ is a great option in that price range, ESPECIALLY right now since its on sale for $80 and BPS is currently offering free shipping.

The PQ is available in 4 ratios, 3 of which are usually considered for cranking. So, how deep do you want to crank?  If you are shallow- to mid-depth cranking, the 6.4 would work...but I personally prefer something slower than the 26" IPT on that option.  The 5.2 (21" IPT) is a great all-round cranking option. The 4.7 (19" IPT) shines on deep cranking.

Me, I have a 4.7 PQ on my deep cranking rod, a 5.2 PQ on my heavy spinnerbait rod, and use a 6.4 on a shallow- to mid- cranking rod (but may be changing that to a 5.2 one of these days).

There are three like new Revo Winch reels in the For Sale forum for $65 each.   That is a good deal.
