For the T-Rig I personally am a 3/0 - 4/0 EWG.  I prefer VMC at the moment.

4/0 Texposers for me most of the time. But they aren't as popular so not a lot of places sell them.

The Owner Wide Gap Plus Black Chrome is a solid product.

Would I need to use gamakatsu superline hooks when fishing with Braid? Or will the regular EWG hooks work while Texas Rig fishing with braided line? Thanks

I don't. I use their regular EWG hooks from 3/0 to 5/0 with braid and they work fine for me. I rarely hook into anything over 3 lbs. but I do drag them out of brisk river current sometimes and have yet to have one of these fail.

What size/type of hook would you use if one were to Texas rig a Roboworm straight tail fat worm that's 6in? Sorry if I strayed too far from the original topic.

1/0 or 2/0 size should be what you use.

"1/0 or 2/0 size should be what you use."

Thanks I appreciate it. Now since they are relatively thin even though they are "fat" worms, would I use a offset round bend or would you recommend an EWG?

Once again thank you.

Trokar EWG style hooks are hard to beat! Absolutely razor sharp and they stay that way too.

You fellers should use eBay for the gamakatsu hooks. I can get like 6 packs of 5 for like $10 and the bulk 25 pack for like $8

I use EWG on bulkier baits and on worms I typically use round bends I only use straight shanks when I am Flippin. I prefer Gamakatsu hooks they are sharp and they don't cost a lot.

Last year was my first year of fishing and I did't know much about hooks.  So I used what was available at the local Walmart stores.  They mostly had regular worm hooks and wide gap hooks.  I started with regular worm hooks and plastic worms and lizards and they worked well, at least well enough for me.  I then saw a video by glenn where he talks about wide gap hooks and then I switched to wide gap hooks and they worked well but I did lose two bass while using them, I think more my fault than the hooks fault.  This winter I've seen some videos on how regular worm hooks have a higher hook up percentage than wide gap hooks and that got me thinking - maybe I should have been using both over the summer - regular and wide gap hooks.  So this winter I've been buying both and plan on using both this spring and winter.  My main hook will be the regular round bend hooks unless the plastic is too thick then I will move to wide gap hook.

Don't be concerned about a "hook for Texas rig."

Be concerned with a hook for your bait.

Heavy hooks for Havocs; lighter hooks for smaller plastics.

There are too many hooks and opinions about them to confuse you for life.

Keep it simple and use the best hook you believe is right for your presentation and bait.

one more thing that i would like to add make sure you hook your soft plastic straight. This is probably the most important thing.

I use Owner 85% of the time.  The other 15% I use Gamakatsu's

I always use offset round bend hooks unless I throw a Z Hog or Super Hog in which case I will use a EWG.  I prefer 1/0 or 2/0 because I feel it give the baits a little more action and I rarely miss a fish b/c of the fish not getting the whole bait.

Wow that's really cheap compared to Gamakatsu, Owner ect.  Has anyone else used these?  I googled trying to find some reviews and it I saw some people saying that they're sharp but tend to bend/break.  These were all on salmon forums though, maybe the hooks will be fine for bass...?

I have only bent one that I got hung up. I ended  pulling the limb up I was hung on. The hook bent but the barb was still stuck. YMMV but for the price, I'll keep using them.
