Very nice work! I don't think I'd have the patience to do that, I get antsy if it takes too long to tie a jig  :eyebrows:

its a labor of love for sure. I did everything with a chisel! Took about five hours.

How is the tail attached and are you using that exact design? Is the tail going to be exactly as pictured, wooden?

its wedged in and superglued. The resin ones will have soft plastic tails.

Wait....you're going to make resin baits from this?  Man, you are ambitious. I'll give you that.

Are you going to fish the wooden one or just use it as the master?

I'm going to fish this one. I'll make another with 100% exact scales (same on both sides and perfectly proportioned). I'm playing around with the weighting on this one to figure out the balance that will get the best glide.

Paint, clearcoat, and weighting done. Foiled gill plate. ;) best I can do without an airbrush for now.

I think it will get bit but I'll caution you about that tail. No ifs, ands or buts about it.....that tail is going to break off the bait when you cast it and it hits the water. Trust me. If it makes it through a few casts and gets bit by anything with some size, it's going to break then.

I just don't want to see you go out with a bait you made and break it the first trip. Past similar designed baits have had the same problem.

alright man I'll keep that in mine. I'm getting plaster tommorow so I'll pour some tails.

The finished product (except the tail)

cedar. It is tough enough to hold in screw eyes but soft enough to be easy to carve and sand. It also rquires less weight to sink than harder woods. I only had to use 1 1/4 oz of tungsten for this bait.
