Duckett Casting Reels

I have got the opportunity to play with the reel and walked away very up satisfied. It's just another doyo reel. Just like so many others, nothing special. Abu Garcia has nothing to do with them as Abu ownes there own plant in Korea and did not make them for Duckett. The 13 reels on the other hand have been very impressive. I have tested them all except the KP and are by far the best outof the box reel I have used. Better drag than a Abu, better casting than a tatula and palms better than a lews. Very impressive so far

All of the Revos are made by Doyo Engineering. Abu Garcia does have some places in Sweden that makes the ambassadeurs. I am quite a bit surprised by the pricing points of the Duckett reel, I thought it would be cheaper.

Abu used to be made by doyo, they now have there own plant in Korea there bait casters and spinning reels. Some of there ambassadeurs are made in Sweden except for the new s,sx,and stx round reels

I have the Concept E and I don't really agree with the assessment. I don't find it to palm all that well because it sits too high off the rod and the sideplate has a very sharp edge. It certainly doesn't cast as well as my Tatula's, though it's not a night and day difference. It's a nice reel, but doesn't really justify a $380 price tag. The drag star and handle look extremely cheap too, I am hoping the trick shop will offer some better options. I didn't pay retail for it, but I would have felt a lot better about the E if it were around $220 or so. It doesn't feel nearly as refined as a Chronarch CI4+, so I can't see it costing more than that.

I saw that. VERY disappointed. But they'll come out later this year, I'm sure. No word on how much they weigh, either.

Looks like they did away with the carbon handles as well. I don't really see what sets these apart from a Lews, Abu, BPS, etc. They're probably made in one of the same factories.

It's all about how they PERFORM. You could make the argument that there is little that separates most Korean made reels. A different drag system here, different brake system there. But each brand has their own following built strictly on performance to the angler. I can't wait to try these out.

I think Duckett is definitely a smart businessman within the industry.  Think it was a great idea of him to introduce the reels in 2 colors.  I noticed he changed the grips from the prototype (old ones looked nearly exact to the gen 3 revo grips).  Smart move again if you ask me as it helps to set the reel apart now that some have "personalized" grips with the company name on them.  They're sharp looking reels in my opinion and with the black and white colors I think he will have a lot of different people wanting to try them.  I like the shape of the reel as well, similar to the gen 2 revos and lew's bodies.  I wish Shimano and Daiwa would have stayed a little more towards their Zilliion and Curado e shapes, seems now they're either making them wider (tatula) or longer (curado i) not a big difference but enough to notice.  Either way, I think this was a smart move by Duckett and I'm sure these will sell for the company.  I'm happy with what I use but these will likely do well for him.
